Konami Sorry for Metal Gear Online Fiasco
MGS4 companion game faces "major system related problems"
Konami has publicly apologised for problems that have dogged Metal Gear Online since the launch of the Gene expansion pack last week.
A message on Konami's official site admits that the launch has been "marred by major system related problems resulting in great inconveniences for our customers", going on to state, "We have been taking numerous corrective measures since the problems initially started, but unfortunately there are no permanent solutions we can announce at the moment."
The site then has a comprehensive timeline documenting the problems, before concluding with "sincere apologies" and telling us, "We are currently doing all in our powers to bring a permanent solution to the ongoing problems in the quickest possible time."
The Metal Gear Online shop and 'My Konami' websites were affected, with the 'Reward Shop' being affected and the new 'Survival' mode becoming inaccessible as a result. There were also payment problems that meant some customers were overcharged, but Konami states that refunds have now been issued.
You can find out more on Konami's official website.
