THe open beta of Home will be here soon. Im in the Closed beta right now and its pretty decent even though alot is missing right now. when the open beta get running alot more options will be available.

The open beta start in July 2007 according to the Beta's ingame news.

Something tells me this is gonna be more expensive for Sony than it's worth to them. Bowling seems ok, evac looked fun, but those games looked seriously lacking. I don't expect something on the level of calling all cars, but I would have though they could try and rival something closer to an NES or SNES game. That looked like a game with the graphics of the NES with the gameplay of Atari 2600.

The bowling looks like they put 5 minutes into the design. I was expecting something a bit more realistic. I recalled seeing a bowling game for the PS3 where they used the Sixaxis controller like a Wii mote to bowl. They could atleast have had given the Joysticks a try.

I hope this isn't what every Sony fan has been bragging about. I hope that theater that Sony is supposed to have has something decent.

I guess you must think that home is all about the mini games. cause its not. this is just a vid of the few thigs they have. these games are to be played with other people who are on the home service. apart from blowling there is also pool and soon to come chess.

The movie theater streams trailers for movies and games. it goes fliudly.

Its all free mind you. and they cant lose money as they thiers supposed to be in home advertising in the future, currently their is only sony advertisments of more games by video on the walls.

Here is another video i made of the home theater showing a trailer of the next Resident evil movie this fall.

Mind you i made these videos with a digital cam and the quality aint so good but you can still see everything

I deleted what I said earlier because I realized I did a better job explaining my opinion in the summary than I did in the rest of the post.

In my opinion, The arcade is inexcusably bad, bowling may be a matter of opinion. The trailers I like and is a very good idea. Chess is good, Pool has promise. Ads are clever. Anything else?

what i can tell you is that playing the mini games with friends is just a way to get people together and have good conversations.
What i think home will really do is replace certain types of fourms people goto to talk about different subjects. the use of voice chat works well in these situations as there are alot of intelligent gamers in the closed beta right now. when the open beta comes out i hope it maintains the same level of maturity. I would hate to hear kids screaming all the time. good thing there is a mute button for specific people.

Keep in mind that this is a beta so with the feedback the users give sony they can make things better before it is luanched this fall. the trailers have been updated 3 time since i been in the beta. but i expect them to frequently change the trailer selection in the final product.

also inviting friends to you home space is a better way to talk to people without random folks talking away. This will be great for clans to meet up before gaming.

the customization of your avatar is pretty detailed.

The reason that I say the arcade games are terrible is that people online make content every single day that rivals those games. People would kill to have their own personal content on something as massive as a PS3 console. If they aren't willing to put the effort into the games then release a tool set and let people create the games for you. They could end up with some awesome epic games that don't cost them a dime. They could specify what type of game they are looking for from week to week and they would have thousands of responses. They could have the best damned arcade system out there with thousands of games in it. But no, they give us this...

Oh and btw does the microphone come seperate or with the PS3? Oh and tell me, is there any patterns you are noticing as to who is playing in the Home beta from the voice chat?

Ok just read your edit so

EDIT

The personal rooms is a very nice touch.  If you can make a video of how that works it would be nice, but even if it's well done, I don't think it will be mass adopted.  Who knows.

Home is just a place to hang out, talk to people and pass time while waiting to play games and such. Why would there be Calling All Cars in it? You can go play it with other people from Home if you so decided with them.

Do you know what Home is? It's not where you download games or whatever, that's already in the store. This is a community lobby and a place to get games going from.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

no the mic doesn't come with the ps3. all bluetooth head sets are compatible, the ps2 usb headset works fine along with any other USb headset. THe warhawk retail version will include a blutooth headset this fall. Im also in the Warhawk beta which is pretty damn fun (so many ways to play it).

any how i agree the arcade game could be alot better then they currently are however they are free and not the focus of home. the PSN games are way better and that is where we can see alot of independant games going and making money for smaller devlopers. alot of old classic games are already on the PSN as well as PS1 games making a comeback (crash bandicoot) similarly to the way Virtual console games work on the Wii. The 360 seems will be the only not to have an old game library to throw onto live.

as for making another movie i will as soon as i can get my cousin to record it as i can't do it myself with one hand.

Meh

I've never cared for this sort of crap
