As you all know I´m brazilian. And  I always wondered how much people all over the world know about my country. So, please post anything that you might know. I just ask that you avoid talking about:

Beach
Football (soccer if you´re an american)
Samba
Pagode
Women

That´s because everyone seems to know that. I want things like movie you know, book authors, culture, anything.

@strategyking92 - Forest. I forgot about that one. Everyone talks about the Amazon Forest as if it´s covering my entire country (it´s not). I´m not saying you did it, just that a lot of people think that.

The term black hispanic is weird to me. Our population according to the last census is divided in

53,7% white
6,3 % black
38,5 % "caboclo" (brown)

Well, all I hear about is "farmers in brazil and other south american countries are cutting down the amazon, the last bastion of wildlife!" You are right though, I don't think that. But when Brazil is ever mentioned, you either hear about soccer, or the rain forrest though.

Things are improving for my country. For example the company InBev, which is formed partly by the brazilian company Ambev and whose CEO is brazilian, is forming the biggest beer company in the world with the american company that sells Budweiser.

Companies like Gerdau (steel among other things), Embraer (planes), Vale do Rio Doce (second largest mining company in the world) are starting to change the face of my country.

Best football players in the world. Garrincha, Pelé, Sócrates, Zico, Tostão, Raí, Rivaldo, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Kaká... to name just a few of the most famous ones. The list of excellent footballers is endless.

Beautiful country, beautiful women, Samba.

Okay, I should not mention football, women or Samba.
