My thoughts.

Later this summer/early fall MS will announce new revs of all SKU's. This will be for final 3 months of the year.

What will be different about these SKUs:

• They will be new Jasper motherboard. This wont really be announced though. MS wont want people thinking about internals.
• With new motherboard they may have WiFi including Wireless N standard onboard
• Prices will be adjusted. With the new 60GB HDD kit at $99 and 120GB HDD kit at $149.99, the fall prices will need to be adjusted.  For example purchasing Elite needs to be a better deal than purchasing Arcade and purchasing HDD separately.  If prices stay the same purchasing an Arcade and 120GB HDD (at new leaked price) is $430 and purchasing an Elite is $450.
• This is when Newton motion controller will be introduced with a packin. 

Also of course we will hear about Bungie new title(s).

Why didnt MS announce these things at E3.

MS wants to get rid of existing Falcon stock. They do not want people waiting for new versions.  So they will wait until the last moment to announce.  It was stupid for Sony to announce 1.5 months before availability the new 80GB SKU.  They are just hurting sales in July and August with that announcement.  MS will want to avoid that.

E3 was not worth it! You can only make a huge buzz announcement once and since they already had the biggest one at E3 with FFXIII, they didnt need to use any more ammo, There saving it for TGS probably and when its closer to Christmas.

MS (and Sony) really don't need to announce anything else for a while. They just need to make good on their E3 announcements.

Microsoft wanted this E3 to be about the blockbuster games they are releasing in the 2nd half of 08. Also, they have to save some ammo for other dates. We have the Games Convention and TGS on the horizon, so I expect them to make some more announcements there.

From their last quarter results (they lost $188 million), I doubt there will be any price cut this year.

E3 is too early in the year to lay down all the cards, and I don't think any of the three did that. There will still be some significant announcements at TGS.

I think there will be:

- A price drop along all the SKUs this fall
- No more significant new games for North America
- Maybe one or two new games for Japan and Europe

Microsoft is probably really happy with the way E3 turned out. They had to make a splash and did. They might bring out Newton but then again it might not make sense as I don't see how it would help right now.

Alan Wake is supposed to make an appearance at TGS.

There were some other interesting nuggets in those results.  The amount MS spent on R&D and Sales and Marketing really jumped signifigantly (over $200 million) in that quarter.  That division is made up of more than just the 360 as well.  In addition that division also spent $24 million on integration costs related to the aquisition of Danger which has nothing to do with the 360.  So what was that extra spending associated with.  What could extra R&D be for?  Jasper costs maybe?  How about new Zune models?  Maybe newton controller?  Part of what Jasper is supposed to do is bring down costs on 360s further.  So another reason to wait until nearly all Falcon units sold before permanent price cuts.   The fact of the matter is that an Elite priced at $450 and the Arcade priced at $280 when the 120GB HDD is priced at $150 doesnt make sense. 

They still have Halo Chronicles and whatever game Bungie was going to announce. I was looking forward to these games being at E3 more than anything else. When is TGS by the way?
