Forums - General - For Some Ohioans, Even Meat Is Out Of Reach

...

blah blah blah another article on how the economy is hitting people badly and they are struggling to pay their bills...

...

The rising cost of food means their money gets them about a third fewer bags of groceries — $100 used to buy about 12 bags of groceries, but now it's more like seven or eight. So they cut back on expensive items like meat, and they don't buy extras like ice cream anymore. Instead, they eat a lot of starches like potatoes and noodles.

That's not funny until you look at the picture of them....

Now I'm all for food stamps and social security for people who can't work but subsidizing these two bloated land manatees is a bit much. I wonder if the government should sponsor more nutrition and weight loss for such people instead of paying for them to become more overweight.

lol haha. Looks like this is actually a blessing in disguise. Cut back on all the crappy fatty foods will help.

Nah, the poor eat worse then everybody else. Junk and unhealthy food is cheaper then the good stuff.

Also, i blame everywhere else in ohio except for where i am.

really, it'd probably be better off if instead of foodtamps people were just given... food.

poor ohio! i love ohio! its my favorite state!!

Yeah, honestly the poorer the region is the fatter the people get. Its because they live off of mac and cheese and frozen pizza.

Its possible to use food stamps on costly health food.

Not America. You can tell by all the use of KG and liters. Which is really the problem since prices in different countries are effected by different things.

I'd guess Canada.

The grocery store down the street.  In general the prices should be similair.

All I know is that here you can eat healthy for about  the same price as eating junk.
