SE will lose a lot of money on FFXIII and will need to rethink its strategies not to go bankrupt unless MS would have paid for the exclusivity.
How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...

Most of them would abandon the franchise like what will happen to SO.

Oh I agree, they would loose money in Japan, but I am sure that MS would have to pay dearly for the exclusive. But I think MS would gladly do it if they think it will help them break the market.

Thats true, but it still is much bigger than the 360. All I know is that FFVII was one of the titles that encouraged heavy adoption of the PS1 in Japan.
They would goto that system and buy the system, and it's games.
The Xbox 360 actually has a few decent Japanese-centric games on it that aren't Final Fantasy - tons of JRPGs (far more than the PS3), and they're trying to expand with other J-games from Namco and Capcom.
Overall, I think the X360, if it had XIII exclusively, it'd sell around 5 million consoles in Japan, and reach Dreamcast-like sales.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

I agree, but Square prides itself on trying to push the limits and show what is possible on the newest tech with it's main FF series. I think that DQ has a better chance of going to the Wii after it's DS release.
Realistically, after the announcement the XBox 360's sales would creep up to 5,000 to 10,000 systems per week, when it was released the XBox 360 would see sales in the 150,000+ range (falling to 40,000 the next week), and then would drop quickly down to the 5,000 range it was selling at before Final Fantasy was released. All things considered, the XBox 360 would (potentially) sell close to 500,000 systems because of it but would remain one of the worst selling systems in Japan that survived an entire generation.

The Dreamcast.. Now that was a true cult classic in Japan. There were a ton of truly strage games that released for that system (In Japan only) due to SEGA not regulating adult games like Nintendo and Sony did at that time.
Maybe japanese would wait for PS3 port?))) Well, if FFXIII after 1 year wouldn`t come on ps3, then probably buy 1-2 mln. x360.
Every 5 seconds on earth one child dies from hunger...
