that's one of the BS threads I read earlier. I don't need to know details, just if they profited or not. I think the gaming division made a loss, but MS as whole made a big profit (from when I read it)

There's also a news story on the same thing.
They lost 188 million.

DMeisterJ, do you not know how to read or you just like to troll and make upstuff.
Microsoft revenue was 15.84 billion (yes with a "B") for the quarter just ended. They have net operating income of 5.68 billion (again with a "B"). According to them this is the fastest growth they have since 1999 as far as earning.
So yes, Microsoft did make a profit this quarter of about 5 billion $. (And also this fiscal year)
The EDD (entertainment division that include development, zune and Xbox) however report net operating lost of 188 million. The division revenue is up and actually the expense is down but the lost was due to increase in spending on R&D (cost associate with new Dashboard?), aquisition of Danger Inc. and increase in advertisement (GTA IV perhaps).
While EDD lost money this quarter, the division however is for the first time has profitable fiscal year.
I hope that answer your question StrategyKing
