I've seen a couple of references to PS1 bc being removed in the upcoming new sku. During the conference, he said it was equiv. to the hardware of the current 40GB. So any idea what is correct?

Actually the new 80GB is not going to have PS2 BC incorporated period.

PS1 BC will still in the 80GB PS3.
