God of War III Confirmed by Cory Barlog to be in development at the launch event of God of War 2 in March of 2007.

Face it. God of War 3 is coming out in 2009. The game's been in development since March 2007 so it's coming in 09. Whether or not it'll be in March, who knows, but it's coming.

What does that even mean? That they're planning to make a game entitled God of War 3? Well, duh.

It was all over the internet a month or two after GoW2 released that work had not begun on GoW3 yet. Google it if you so desire. I don't feel like it.

I think it's absolutely adorable that you guys think a game that didn't have a single piece of gameplay to show at E3 is going to be ready in 8 months.  I'd love to live in your magical pixieland of fairy dust and instant game development.

I'm pretty sure your right.  It will release in March... of 2010.

E3 is not the hardcore gamer drool-athon it used to be. It is a PRESS event, and as such how can you blame the companies for focusing on the press. The casual market is what the press cares about so that is what will be the most effective to pressent in that kind of venue. E3 is not for us.

Willing to bet a WiiWare/Virtual Console game on that?  I'm willing to bet you that God of War III doesn't release in 2009.  Stakes are one VC or WW game of $10 or less.

Chains of Olympus was developed by Ready at Dawn, not Sony Santa Monica, who is developing God of War III.

Ah, I thought RaD was part of Sony Santa Monica. Now I see they're in Irvine. My mistake.

The rest of my point still stands, though. Insomniac and their magical coding zombies seem to be the only company able to keep to a 2 year development cycle for the PS3.

 

Insomniac is one of a kind, truly. On top of their coding skills they also release documents on their tech to spread the knowledge. They are quickly becoming the id of console development.

Holiday 2009 is more likely IMO. I still think it will hit in 2010 but if Sony Santa Monica somehow hits a 2009 target window, good for them.
