true squilliam, gears 2 could easily hold its own against both resistance 2 AND killzone 2....... anyway killzone 2 isn't released until 2009 so its actually resistance 2 that is in DEEP WATER because its competing agianst BOTH Gears of war 2 AND Left 4 Dead........ and by the time killzone 2 arrives the next wave of FPS games will be coming out for the 360...... wasn't Metal gear solid 4 supposed to sell millions and millions and contribute the the demise of the 360? wasn't FFXIII on ps3 going to be the final nail in the 360's coffin? oh, i forgot, FFXIII is also on 360 now ha ha ha....... the ps3 was expected to catch up a little this year and no doubt it has had a bit of momentum lately..... if you look at sales figures its kind of alarming for the ps3 that after only 3 weeks of MGS 4 been released sales are already back to normal..... the 360 towards the end of the year can easily overturn the 25,000 or so consoles that the ps3 is currently outselling it by weekly............

And Infamous looks so much cooler the Gears it's insane. Also gears is bland which I was only able to discover after purchasing it myself. Will not get gears 2, I will rent. no doubt it will be nice and short like it's daddy.

I don't see how PS3 exclusives could hurt the sales of a 360 exclusive, maybe if it was multiplatform and gears was also available on the PS3 then the 360 sales of Gears 2 would suffer.

 

Gears 1 went up against Resistance 1, 2 brand new IP's, the most important games of their respective consoles at the time.

And about infamous, I believe that many thought Lair looked cool as well.

I have yet to see actual gameplay of infamous (has anyone) so I would not comment on infamous right now, because trailers are supposed to sell a game and of course they look "cool". Also, I don't think you should be calling gears bland when until recently I only realised that there was a difference between infamous and prototype (and that difference was their names). Action in a sandbox, check (and done to death I might add). Super human powers, check. Trying to play off the "oohhh I'm an anti-hero badass" as if it were something new in games, check.

The 360 couldn't even outsell the PS2 last year and the PS3 has outsold the 360 for 8 months in a row now.

 

The PS3 couldnt even outsell Gameboy advance last year...

Gears of War 2>Resistance 2 - It will outsell and will move more units then any game (PS3&360) this holiday season.

New Bungie Project/ Peter Jackson Project>Killzone 2 - Killzone 1 70ish% going up against the game that redefinied console FPS? Im sorry but graphics can only get you so far.

Lastly, L4D will be a 90%ish game AAA title. I don't understand how people can dispute the developers of the counter-stike source. I mean they did make CS didnt they, they deserve a wee bit of respect.
