I think SEGA would have still been here.
Nintendo would be taking the same course they did with N64 [the good one]
MS would have probably won the 6th and 7th gen with their cash.
And then Nintendo would have went the Wii route in the 8th Gen.
And then SEGA would drop out in mid-7th Gen.

Nope MS entered to stop Sony if they were not in no MS...

I would doubt that...

Nah, it's pretty much true. MS has said stuff akin to that before. Sony legitimized gaming as a form of entertainment for people other than children. They also proved that a company not intimately familiar with the industry could come in and succeed (whereas Philips, Panasonic, etc made it look like only Sega and Nintendo could compete). Sony also showed the world that consoles could have huge market penetration and therefore could potentially be used to enter the living room as an entertainment hub. Those are all things MS saw Sony do, and then decided they wanted a piece of the action.

My Top 5:

Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger

My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.

Maybe Apple would've entered to the consoles bussines?
Sega wouldn't have becomed a 3rd party publisher.

Apple tried to enter the gaming business and failed with the pippin. But what you see now with the iphone is apples attempt at entering the gaming market. Basically supplement an existing product with games, not building a dedicated console.

Also, MS entered because Sega left. They saw an opportunity and were worried that Sony could 'rule the living room' with a console turned set top box.

Nintendo makes the top-selling system in its partnership with Phillips. The NCD3 has Mario, Zelda and all the classic franchises. However, there are some who wish the Big N would show some innovation.

The M4 is the second-biggest console after 3DO figured out the pricepoint. It also is the only system which is a full entertainment center.

Sega continues to struggle along with its MS-supported Dreamplayer and having iconic Sonic. The system has on-line and web browsing capabilities, but they are of limited interest to the gaming community as they are much more limited than the PC experience.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.
