And not really giving money, not the kind they are hoping for, to the blu-ray side by your "proud" declarations. Neither are you helping to grow the market.

Warner may be releasing on HD DVD until may, but New Line is going exclusive immediately, according to HighDefDigest:
The only reason all the companies are going Blu-ray is Money and they know by dec 2008 with over 20Million PS3's , Plus millions of Standalone players, they will simply make more of it by selling Blu-ray which is now over twice as popular. While if they go HD-DVD they will only make half as much if any at all since they don't sell. !
Basically the HD only producers were looking at the rappidly rising Blu-Ray sales wishing their HD-DVD's were selling that well.
If the market remained split - it's extra trouble for retailers , and producers HD-DVD will allways remain obscure (could have gone either way back in 2006) , while Blu-ray would not become mainstream for another several years. Choosing one (blu-ray) now makes it all so much easier , prices will come down more competition and consumers wont get locked into 2 incompatible technologies, and will feel safe to buy that new Fully Supported HD format not one which only does 50% of the discs they want.

So is this thread going to continue now? I mean, HD-DVD is unofficially dead at this point. It probably won't be officially dead for quite some time now,. So lets let this thread DIE!!!!
It's nowhere near dead yet so don't get too excited. As long as there are new releases sitting on store shelves the format is not dead.
You have also to count the worlwide market ,where Blu Ray is gaining momentum and weight (amount of shelves space since last year has increased dramatically ) while the HD-DVD is nearly non-existant .And in Asia things are even more Blu oriented .One had to die and it had to be the HD-DVD ,its as simple as that .

Please. Of course HD-DVD is in trouble, but one format "had to die"? Where does it say that? The mere fact that they are 5" optical discs, and the last format war involving those ended in a tie, shows that one dying is not the only outcome required for HD films becoming mainstream.
