Forums - Gaming - Did Square-Enix single-handedly save the MS press conference?

While there were several good games shown to us during Microsoft's press conference, almost all of it was information we already had. We already knew about Fallout 3, Gears2, Fable2, etc., we just got a few videos and demos. We did get a few solid release dates, but those aren't exactly exciting by themselves. There were truly only three announcements, the marketplace Portal sequel/expansion, the Netflix announcement (though technically this was already rumored but without a lot of evidence) and FF13.

While there was a lot of great information shared about the games I'm planning to get, there were few surprises, and in my opinion the entire thing was rather underwhelming until the very end. Perhaps we've just been spoiled by the events at previous E3's, and now additional information isn't enough to get excited about. It's the unveilings that truly stick out in our minds and so it is those that make for great pre-E3 shows.

yes they did, before them it was mediocre.

S-E part was very interesting and the FFXIII on 360 announcement was a complete shock in a good way and we were shown an awesome trailer

YES!!!!!! Seriously it would have been the worse conference ever if it wasn't for SE.

Yes. Just take a look at what it all really was about if you leave out the FF announcement...

I honestly felt Netflix was a big deal.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

yes they did, everything else was already known before E3, except for netflix ofcourse

Was i the only one that had a feeling it was going to happen the second it was announced the final guest of the night was the President of Square Enix? They usually try to go out with a bang on the MS press conference. Remember in 2006 they had that 30 second Halo 3 unveiling.

Start: Great showing of some big titles.

Middle: Some nice things with Netflix and the new dash but the casual crap made me wanna stab myself.

The Ending: VGchartz crashed, end of story

Shit, I was watching it on T.V and I frieken fell asleep i was so bored. I thought there whole presentation was terrible until I woke up after they announced the bombshell.

It does give microsoft an edge but, besides that there other announcements were mediocre at best.
