For most of the show (the middle in particular) I kept getting the feeling that I was watching some kind of strange family sitcom. You know the kind where the kid brother REALLY wants to be like the big brother but just comes off as lame every time he tries? Thats how I felt about most of the 360 show where the 360 is the kid brother and the Wii is the big brother they were trying to be just like...poorly. The only interesting thing in the whole hour and a half was the last 2 minutes, everything else was a rip off (eye toy, "avatars" instead of Miis or Home, Singstar..oh I mean lips) or stuff we had known about for a long time.

Watch the whole thing, out of all the applause lines, demos and jokes there are a grand total of 4 genuine signs of interest from the audience during the whole show. Gears of War 2, after that woman finished singing and then twice for FFXIII. Most of the time it was like watching a bunch of MS guys bombing during a high school talent show; ouch.

AAAAA. Did you see the Gears 2 gameplay. That was by far and away the best console graphics to date. The amount of detail in there was astonishing. Just wow.

Gears of War 2 looked incredible - easily rivals Killzone 2 for best console graphics. Netflix at no extra cost is a very nice announcement and so was the MMO-gameshow thing. Other stuff wasn't particuarly stand-out apart from FF13 of course.

8/10

Wow. Gears was not impressive at all. Pretty much Gears 1.5.

This fanboy nonsense you spew is laughable at best.

The enviornment in that demostration was unbelievable.  It actually made you think the world was in a seriously bat shit crazy war.  I was getting into it and I wasn't even playing.  Looks very immersive and intense.  Definite day one purchase for me.  There are just too many good games coming out this fall.

Here comes PS3 fanboy damage control. But but but the cell. The KZ2 footage so far shown is nowhere near as detailed as that Gears 2 footage. You have to be on crack to think otherwise. Ontopic what a killer conference for M$.

10!! FF13 announcement its a winner...

I'd say 7/10

FFXII was their biggest announcement and saved them from a stinging 4. Beside that, to many Sony ripp-off on casual games :

Buzz -> Scene it
Singstar -> Lips
PS-Eye -> Xbox camera whatever the name is
Eye-Create -> You're in the movie
Eye of Judgement -> Those cards you scan with the unnamed camera to get new characters into Viva Piñata
Miis + Home -> Avatars

Too little exclusive titles and not even a single new title. To much emphasis on music games.

Positive : the Netflix partnership, the Dashboard redesign, and Portal.

I give em 7/10. FF announcement saved em from 3/10.

I don't know why, but it completely lacked some sense of excitement. If they have presented all the stuff in a better way, i think the response would be more positive.

.

I'd say 6/10 at best. it's pretty bad when your biggest announcement was a Multi plat game you might get after the other console gets theirs. Yes FF 13 looks huge when you first hear it but when you really look at it in it's full context it isn't as great as it initially looks. Sure PS3 fans got the wind knocked out of them, but a show 24 hours later filled with Exclusive titels really means a hell of allot more than a show with a bunch of Multi plats. Also who knows what Sony has/doesn't have up it's sleeve for tomarrow. I personally hate to rate these things till I have seen what all the players have to show. I liked last year MS conference up until Sony took the stage. In all honesty I thought this years MS show was much worse than last years. The announcement of securing a Multiplat game isn't that big a deal unless you have a bunch of Top notch exclusives to join it. Mediocre show at best.

I'd give it an 8/10. Microsoft's best conference since they've been in the Biz, but not the best historically.

Agreed. It was already better than last year before FF13. Exclusive Portal levels, Lips lets you import songs, exclusive Rock Band window (granted, old news), exclusive Fallout 3 DLC (also on PC), and UNO Rush, of course (I kid). Also, Star Ocean does seem to be exclusive, along with Infinite Undiscovery. They should have mentioned the ability to copy games to the hard drive at the actual show. So, their best show, for sure.
