Forums - General - What Price Education?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7503807.stm - The list of thoose in the UK who get free University level education know Includes: Anyone In Scotland and The Armed Forces, for the rest of us its a criplling amount of debt during a credit crunch, it seems that some are more equal than others here in the UK, personally i think its a joke and the government should make University Free for All, what gives a scottish person or a soldier to free education ahead of me?

Well, here in the US its only for Armed Forces. But it isnt very expensive to go to an instate University. Mine is about 12000$ a year, which I got enough scholarships to pay for it all. But plan on going to a private ifyoure not rich, and you will be paying off loans for the rest of your 20's.

As for Scotland. I assume it's part of the whole "forced merger" thing... well not so much forced as their politicians sold them out. Still there was a lot of trouble wrought by past wrongs.

Soldiers choose to join the army instead of further education, why should they get the chance to change there mind when normal people dont. If the scots get free uni, we should too (England)

Very few soldiers "choose" to join the army. Many join the army because they can't avoid school. Which is the point. You help the government. The government helps you.

Besides which... the Scottish thing i've come to find was passed in Scottish Parliment. Which would be no different then the state system in the US.  In otherwords.  You've just got the wrong political party in power.
