Forums - Gaming - Do you agree, it'll take a lot more than $50 price drop for 360 to win?

I think so. It happened in Europe yet it didn't do a thing to overtake PS3 sales, except for one week. This may give them an advantage in the USA but we all know it didn't do anything in the 'other' and 'japan' sales charts.

This is a move microsoft is doing to expand it's american sales base but it needs more than just america to win. This is the wrong time to cut the price. The right time is near christmas when people actually buy consoles to go with the cool games that come out then...but right now? what cool games are coming out now to go with the 50 bucks you save with the 360?

It's a marketing attempt to post those "Now $50 bucks cheaper!!" to make people think it's worth it and it'll die down after that...that is until that new "SKU" is coming out which will then have "NEW XBOX 360 SKU ON STOCK!!!"

there's only so much a small price drop and new sku can you do...

what is this SKU#5 now? and then the rumoured blu-ray equipped 360, which would be #6?

too much confusion is bad for the consumers who think something is new and improved when it's the same thing

Not in North America. Europe another $50 would help not take PS3...

Japan... Well its Japan...

yeah I think one of the largest and most successful companies on this planet knows when the time is right to drop the price. Maybe they want to gain momentum right now and carry it on untill christmas? We just got to wait and see.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Yea, especially if it is only the Pro version.

Agreed with the OP. IMO, Microsoft has no place in the hardware business. The RROD debacle proved that. Microsoft is a software company.

Keep this in mind when reading what I type...

I've been gaming longer than many of you have been alive.

I agree. To win in the US it must be at least as cheap as Wii.

Are people here stupid or something? Why are people talking about any console that's not the Wii winning? Use your brains for once.

I also would agree waiting until the holiday season would be better, this way MS will need to offer some sort of holiday bundle to make the system look attractive this holiday season.

MS needs something MUCH more to win.

To win what?
The console war? Yes
Victory over Sony? Probably
Profitability? I highly doubt it.
Xbox 360 is in a good spot and I am sure it will boost sales. I am for sure buying one this sunday, along with elder scrolls oblivion.
