IGN recently had some hands-on time with the game and said that it could wind up being one of the best games on the arcade.  I, for one, loved the old games.  I think they got rid of the whole leveling up of your car but, the gameplay was always silky smooth.  The car controls were great and the weapons were great as well.  Looks like another solid game for the fall line-up.

Just another reason to get an Xbox. This game, battletanx, star forx, smash bros, and goldeneye were great to play with friends. Then I got a GC and lost all interest in violent games lol. With PSP I have gotten a little back into violent games after playing syphon filter demo.

I definately preferred Twisted Metal to V8, but it was a pretty good game. Since the last game in this genre was Full Auto (which was mediocre at best), this is a welcome addition.

And the fact it's deathmatch-style and 8 players is going to be an awesome must-buy deal at $10. I hope (and do think) that this game is going to do gangbusters on XBLA.

^^I would not consider Full Auto part of this genre. It was a racing game for the most part. I would compare Full Auto with games like Mario Cart and Wipeout, where it is just a racing game with weapons. Twisted Metal was great but I like the vehicular physics better from V8.
