"Sony Computer Entertainment Japan has said that there are no plans to drop the current price of the PlayStation 3.

Speaking to investors, chief financial officer Nobuyuki Oneda said the company remains focused on profitability for its games division.

"Our strategy is not to sell more quantity for PS3 but to concentrate on profitability," said Oneda, reports smartmoney.com

"Our plan is to not reduce the price."

The comments come ahead of an expected announcement by rival console manufacturer Microsoft that it will cut the price of its Xbox 360 Premium SKU by USD 50, to USD 299 this weekend."

that is expected, but at the same time you can't listen to them when they say stuff like this. Even right before a price cut is coming they will deny it.

Of course they're not going to reduce the price. They're already selling every PS3 at loss, and as they said, They want to make a profit.

Last time they had a price cut, a few days before they said there wasn't going to be one.

I doubt they will cut the price - but as stated, there is NO way they would tell you in advance anyway. That would just hurt immediate sales.

that is most likely true, but u can never trust Sony or any company for that matter, so even though a price cut is not expected, u should still be ready to hear news about a price cut eventually.
