^D2 just became more lively lately. I was just on the other day.

It is still amazing that just by announcing Diablo 3 blizzard managed to push an 8 year old title ( Diablo 2) to the top of the weekly PC software sales in the US.

I can't remember the last time a gaming title on any medium made the top 20 sales 8 years after it was out.

Heck I think you can count on the fingers of one hands the number of titles still found in retail 8 years after their release...( and you won't need 5 fingers..)

No other developer can compare with Blizzard...

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I need this. - The Gaming PC and PS4, and Xbox 360, and thePS3's . Well what are you looking at? What do you think I'm some kind of a jerk or something! - And this. That's all I need.

They've been owning Blizzard for a long time already and things have been doing well.

Besides the Activision current CEO will run the show, Vivendi will just be the majority shareholder sitting in the back.

Yes.

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

So correct me if I am wrong, but Activision buys Vivendi Games (Blizzard and Sierra) from Vivindi, and then Vivindi buys 52% of Activision Blizzard? It doesn't seem very straight forward but maybe someone who understands more about business things like this can explain it a bit better.

When Activision and Vivendi games merged, it meant Vivendi couldn't retain majority ownership of the new company because Activision was bigger than Vivendi Games. In light of that, Vivendi bought part of Activision so that they would own over 50% of the new Activision Blizzard after the merge.

That does make a lot of sense. Blizzard isn't that big of a company people wise (they got huge IPs but only three teams) and Sierra I didn't even know was still making games (only a slight joke there).

edit: actually I think Blizzard has 4 teams now, Starcraft 2, Diablo 3, WoW team, and the secret MMO they have been hiring people on for.

There involved in the awesomeness that is prototype.  Or atleast looks awesome.

Diablo 2 traffic has spiked since the Diablo 3 announcement. I was playing about a week before the announcement, about 20-30k users on. Now it's up to 65-75k on a regular basis. :)
