Forums - Gaming - If it´s true MS and Sony will start being more "Wii like", what effects...

You know what's going to be wierd and this may just fall under E3 prediction, but when these two companies coopt and turn themselves into the a Me Too system with the Wii as they both are Me Too systems currently with each other.

If at that point Nintendo flips this around and disrupts themselves, then we could be looking at 2007 all over again in 2009.

The price drop arguement is moot by now, not because some versions of the HD twins cost less than the Wii and still are outsold 2:1 but because when HD userbase that is most vocal about it is pushing for price drops it means even they admitt the systems aren't worth as much as they currently cost. Can you imagine the case of someone who didn't care for the system to begin with.

The point of business is to make money.

Rule 1 - You need product in retail that's the point
Rule 2 - Innovation your product needs to be the first to do a specific task
Rule 3 - Marketability; you have to be able to sell the thing
Rule 4 - Flexability; what ever your selling must adapt to emerging competitors
Rule 5 - Avoid competition.

That is how you make money in the this world, after you have rule 5 then you put the product out and follow your strategy.

In my head I see the gaming industry of old as a sinking ship and Nintendo jumped on the first life raft - these guys coopting would be like nameless faces trying to grab hold of something while they drown almost pulling it over - unless Nintendo has a plan, their all going to be in the same life raft and it cant hold more than 1.

Xbox360 as much as Microsoft preaches it can not coexist with the Wii - on a more tangible note, a PR guy for Nintendo US actually came out and showed that he was "humble and so is Nintendo to the audience."

In history the only time Nintendo publicly displays this kind of humility is when something very hit or miss is coming along, first time it was the DS, then it was the Wii now they have something else. If I were an investor at Sony/Microsoft I'd probably be sh**ing bricks. When Nintendo announces they are doing something big and they want to keep it hush, that means it may just be industry changing.

Wiifit wasn't Industry changing at all it was more of the marker fir the Wii but the Wii is industry changing, Brain Age wasn't a change either it was just a marker also for the DS. Maybe I'm not remembering very well but this could be the first time a software by Nintendo will be used to change the industries course, or it could be used to change Nintendo's course both equally devistating to the HD Twins.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.
