Forums - Microsoft - Leaked MS to Gamestop/Blockbuster Email: 60gb pricing, 120gb price drop.

Microsoft does not know how to keep their cards close.

They've given Sony a week to decide what to do about the price drop, rather than be shocked by it at E3.

Also, MS is including another Sku? So they'll have 4 Skus

Arcade for 279
Pro for 300
60 gig for 350
elite for 450.

Sony knew it was coming for awhile now.  That is why they are rushing 2.4 and the video download service out the door now.  They are trying to counter the price drop with more features on the PS3.  They think they can equate that to more added value of a PS3.  They are going to stall before they release a price drop, if any, for later this year, near the holidays.

I'm just saying...

I don't believe Sony is ready for a price drop yet...

Im with obieslut, like seriosuly... are they trying to confuse you into buying a 360.

On another note, why cant you use any kind of HDD with ur 360?

The 360 uses a custom interface for its HDD, unlike the PS3 which can use any USB HDD, or any 2.5" SATA HDD internally.

Its made that way specifically so M$ gets to have your HDD money, and no one else.  Thus they don't have competition for your HDD money, and they get to charge whatever they like, because they have a "360 HDD monopoly", unlike Sony with their "open" PS3 HDD.

More like custom connector.  It runs off of a SATA interface.

epsilon72 wins the lingo points.

Who knows, maybe you could visit Taiwan or China and score a connector there for the 360, so you can use any SATA HDD... good luck with the customs, though. ;)

With the introduction of the 60GB Pro console in July
349$ ?
and 20GB model for 299$?

Every 5 seconds on earth one child dies from hunger...

2009.04.30 - PS3 will OUTSELL x360 atleast by the middle of 2010. Japan+Europe > NA.

Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far

I don't think this will add a significant amount of leverage for Microsoft, but that is a good deal and a nice offer for arcade owners. We may see people skip on the premium and go for an arcade with that 100$ package.

wasn't "thesource" talking about a great movie-deal coming for the Xbox360 during this e3-roundtable? I could bet that this bigger HDD has something to do with it!

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Squillam's prediction was pretty close. Sounds interesting, maybe should have saved it for E3.

Seems legit but still expensive. I mean seriously HDD's in reality aren't that expensive. Why are they so expensive for the consoles.
