Forums - Sony - Warhawk Beta Impressions

I never though the Halo Multiplayer was any good anyway. Too few maps, too few modes, and the modes that they did have were uninspiring. And the guy said that you are limited to a weapons class in Battlefield. As far as know, unless the PS2 version was different, you pick a class of weapon, but you can pick up whatever weapons are dropped. You can do that in Couterstrike too so I don't see where the is a pro over the other games. Sorry I am being nit picky. Until I play the game, I am going to withhold judgement. I remember Gengi being called a great game by the Xplay and Attack of the Show crowd.........then it came out. We all know how that worked out.

You choose a certain class to play as, you pick up a weapon if you kill someone. It's not the same as being classless which is what a I said. In Warhawk you don't choose any class, you start with the same weapons and then you pick up weapons off of certain locations by just getting there.

In Battlefield you choose the class for a purpose to fill that role, in Warhawk you don't do any of that and you can carry every single different weapon at one time.

5. The game looks good, better than I expected. It's not a graphical stunner like Gears of War or even Halo 3, but it definitely looks impressive.

...Halo 3. Dude I've played Warhawk beta and Halo 3 beta. If you think Halo 3's beta graphics is in anyway better than Warhawk you definiatly don't know what you're talking about when it comes to graphical looks of a game... or blind. I'm very sure your not the latter. Hey just MO but that just sounds very a little crazy.

It looks better. It's your opinion that Warhawk looks better. My opinion is Halo 3 looks better.

The latest screens from Mass Effect in 720p look gorgeous, better than Uncharted if you ask me. Take a look here: http://xboxyde.com/news_4456_en.html

You have to consider Mass Effect is near completion whil Uncharted was just announced a few months ago and the stuff we have seen wasn't as far into development, so I think uncharted is going to look better than Mass Effect when it comes out. The way it looks right now when it's still pretty early it is going in that direction.

Also the environments in Uncharted already look better than Mass Effeect, the characters might look more detailed in ME, but Uncharted's locations are a lot better looking and with a lot more detail.

Halo 3 beta was awesome!!! And the beta was only the multiplayer. Most of the graphical powerhouse stuff is in campaign. Halo has a surreal look that you either like or don't like.

Warhawk looks pretty good though!

I don't know I haven't tried it. I'll try that next time I play but I didn't see any XMB thing, maybe I missed it.

Sony only provides a few dedicated servers for Warhawk. Most of the games are people using their PS3 as a server.

And no, this doesn't have an ingame XMB. Atleast not the beta

Well they work really well as far as my experience is concerned.

 I agree.

The thing is the devs were smart and limit the number of people you can host based on the speed of your connection. That way you don't get people on DSL trying to have a 32 player game. And the patch they released recently lessened what lag was present.

All in all, this game is shaping up better than I expected.

The number of official SCEA servers depends on the time of day from what I've seen. Sometimes, almost the entire list of servers I see are SCEA servers, sometimes there are only a few of them.

The good news is that compared to other servers (mainly other dedicated ranked ones), I've been able to get into SCEA servers every time unless they were full. The same can't be said for any of the other servers where it can't connect and wastes 20-30 seconds. It feels like I'm rolling chance dice everytime I try to connect to a non-SCEA server.
