First off games are meant to be, above all else, FUN. Youre supposed to play em because you have fun with them smile, laugh whatever the hell you do when youre having fun.

Why games should be fun or make you smile? I don't get that, do you watch only comedies and cartoons too?

First off you fucking fanboy I say "whatever the hell you do when youre having fun" you dont have to smile.

Second you said "Why games should be fun" are you fucking stupid!? Why the hell do you play a game then?

The majority of people who play games play them because theyre fun if you can give me a better reason why people play game than tell me.  And I doubt you can so if YOU play games for any other reason you are damn sad.

It's actually been said again and again in different articles after polling several gamers that the primary reason anybody plays games is for escape.  So maybe for you the primary reason is fun, but that's because having fun is your way of escape.  I'm not saying escape is a bad thing.  For some it's a way to relax.  For some it's a way to delve into a stimulating fantasy world or a stimulating puzzle that they don't face in real life.  It's a way to escape work and develop a new skill set that you can use to gain rewards and acceptance in a fantasy world, all while sitting on your ass.

The 2nd most popular reason people play games is for the sense of reward/accomplishment when you win.

Hell I'll even go so far as to say that the goal of all art is to escape and experience something new/different/fantastic.  That's why some artists dislike realism and even refuse to call it an art form.

Also, you should work on doing multiple quotes per post so you don't have to post 5 times in a row to respond to everything at once.

@The Ghost of RubangB
Polls IMO are shit. They can never give you accurate information mainly because the people polled are such a small majority its just shouldnt count.

I get what youre saying especially the sense of a accomplishment part since thats what alot of the people who call themselves "hardcore" like.

And never thought of the double quoting I didnt even know you could do that. thanks.

by the way......is your avatar really you?

Hardcore and casual in gaming isn't only defined by how hard it is. Yes that is a factor, given when games like Ninja Gaiden are hardcore games. But usually games are hardcore because they don't have a simplistic gameplay concept nor gameplay setup. They usually take long hours to play and show some level of difficulty especially in the form of progression throughout the game. Casual titles are essentially the exact opposite.

I agree. The thing im trying to say is some people will never consider a Mario Galaxy "hardcore" because its not difficult which doesnt make sense to me.

Many hardcore gamers do not find games to be of the same difficulty that you do. I find that many modern games are too simple and easy to be interesting while I find "difficult" games such as Ikaruga to be perfect in terms of difficulty.

But Im saying games should not be defined as hardcore because of how difficult they are or arent. Like I said Normal games that give you a hard challenge every now and then arent considered hardcore because theyre not hard all throughout doesnt make sense. A game doesnt have to be incredibly difficult to be considered a "harcore" game.

A game should be considered hardcore by the depth of it.

"A game should be considered hardcore by the depth of it."

That makes sense to me
