Oasis' Noel Gallagher has blamed violent videogames

As one of the reasons for the knife crime problem among Britain's youth.

Speaking to BBC Newsbeat, the song writer said that violent games desensitise kids from crime, which is "really, really scary," he said.

"I was up in Liverpool for a week a couple of weeks ago and even on the news there it's every single night," said Gallagher

He must be getting old.

Didn't Noel Gallagher headbut someone once? or am I thinking of someone else.

Maybe its lack of economic opportunity causing people to react violently ...

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

Midnight at the Oasis (March 1998)

Britain’s favorite bad boy, Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher, is arrested in Australia for allegedly breaking a fan’s nose with a headbutt. The fan had taken a picture of Gallagher after a bad concert in which the group reportedly sounded horrible, bickered onstage and refused to perform an encore.

EDIT: What game would have been released in 1998 to cause this behavior?

EDIT2: The site was wrong, it was Liam who headbutted.

I bet Rock Band 2 turned down the ofer to include his shitty songs...

I think it's Rock 'n Roll that's to blame. All these damned kids with their damned music swivelling their damned hips everywhere.

Seriously, though, seems like Noel Gallagher's aged quite a bi, I agree. It wasn't that long ago that Rock was the devil's music and catching much of the flack that games catch today. Surprising to see a relatively young musician sound so...outdated.

As a side note, when I heard Wonderwall for the 7 billionth time in the 90's, I wanted to stab someone.

noel seems to have to jumped on the media sterotype here, however i think the other points he made were good, especially "In my day, status was trying to be somebody, do you know what I mean, not trying to kill somebody" ill forgive him for his comments on video games as he is one of the greatest musicians ever. hopefully hell see sense and realize that games arent part of the problem.

That news article is wrong, it was Liam who head butted someone.

Hmm, pie.

I think his music is actually to blame for knife crime.
