ItsaMii said: I said that as joke you do not need to get so worked up. I agree to your point that crappy games are not worth your (our) time. But what is the point in beating them with cheats? Just go to game endings or read a plot Faq at gamefaqs. I am not doubting your game abilities, but if use even a turbo controller in one part of the game and beat it on hard, someone who finished on easy will say you are not good enough. Bragging about beating a hard game is not sad at all. If you finish a game that is considered near impossible you must brag about it. Devil may Cry and Battletoads are good examples. I finished the Battletoads for Snes (near impossible) using a code that raise your lives from 3 to 5 and continues from 3 to 5. I barely used a continue and had lot o lives left but I can not I BEAT Battletoads in Battlemaniacs. Get my point: beating the game the right way is part of the fun.
I am graduating at University in less than a month so please do not talk to me like I am a kid that like to brag about useless stuff. Please do not consider my post an act of aggression its just that I am some kind of anti-cheat maniac. For example: One time my friend told me the answer to a question in a hard test, I left it blank knowing I would not have it answered on my own. |
First off, dude your right, I don't need to get worked up. Sorry for that. I've been coming off like a jerk alot lately, don't intend too. I think I was unloading on gamers that give me arrogance about cheating, while you were clearly just joking around. Didn't mean to go off on you. And my point again wasn't to insult you. I'm more or less saying, I guess I'm not a great gamer, never really was, I used to love adventure games and they didn't really require great skill, and alot of games these days are fairly easy. And I guess you can say I really only cheat when I'm totally stuck or gave up on a game and at that point there is no pride because I've basically decided I can't beat it. And since I find myself more talented at other things like drawing, playing guitar and writing(trying to get a novel published(or more like sadly gave up on that idea as I've failed to get an agent)) I find that gaming to me has become less of a skill and more of a passive hobby. For example FF I don't even care about leveling up I've entirely cheated in that department because all I want to do is watch the cut scenes.(I just realized you mentioned this game earlier
) And watching the cutscenes is more satisifying then reading the ending on the internet, heck even beating people while invincible is fun, sometimes it's even more fun. Other games I find are only fun when cheating, like the Sims is a rather boring and annoying game until you give yourself unlimited amounts of money to actually get time to do fun things. The old command and Conquer games too(which I've got pretty far without cheating) are fun to cheat too, there is nothing like watching a 100 guys launch rockets all at the same time.
I respect your anti-cheat vibe, it's just that in gaming I feel like getting stuck is equal to buying a movie and then it pause half way through to tell me I can't watch the end until I can answer some trivia question and since I don't know the answer the movie will sit on my shelf for the rest of it's life unifinished. That to me I hate more then anything.
