I am a college student that lives on grants and a few loans with a part-time job to supplement my hobbies.
I live with my dad and brother. The fact that I live at home saves me a lot of money, but I work a lot. I fund just about everything in my life that isn't directly related to house bills. Clothes, textbooks, most of my food. Lately I've also started paying for things like my share of the phone bill.
It is rewarding to slowly increase my self-dependence. But at the end of the day, my disposable income is directly proportionate to how much I make myself work, and I would have very little to spend on luxuries if I was forced to move out at this stage whilst still at university.

I'm dirt poor. I live off college refund checks and allowances I get every month for gas and food. I have little spending money. No job, been looking forever and can't find anything. Woot for being in College.
I wouldn't say rich, but definitely above average. I own a 3100 SQFT house w/5 Bedrooms, a rental property, and we make our bills without too much stress w/ enough money left over to build a modest savings account. I would say I'm definitely blessed, but not rich (yet). I was pretty broke a few years ago, though.

I'd say that my family is relatively rich. In terms of technology, we have four laptops, and my pc, 2 HDTVs, a PS3, 360, all of the last gen consoles, a PSP (I'm getting my own in a few weeks), DS, a gaming room, more mobile phones than living organisms.
My parents have a car each (Dad = Audi A4 a year old, perhaps two | Mum = VW Passat '05 (getting a new Mini Cooper at the end of the year), which they upgrade every two-three years.
We usually have two/three holidays a year, with at least one of them being abroad (By the end of this year I will have spent a long weekend at Center Parcs, three weeks in Florida, and a week in Andorra). On top of that, my parents usually vacate without us, last year they both went to Hong Kong for two weeks, and they've been to Crete for 10 days. My dads been on a few golfing holidays in Portugal, and my mum has been to Italy and other places.
We usually get top-of-the-range foods (unless we can't taste the difference), and always get brand new high quality clothes.
My parents are not exactly tied to work, either. My mum only works term times, doesn't work Mondays, and comes off work early on Wednesdays. My dad has time off work whenever he feels like (didn't bother going in today, went shopping and golf, instead).
It wasn't always like this, though. My parents had me when they were young (18/19, I believe), and my dad worked 6 days a week, from 6-5, at shit pay. But he works his way up, and now owns the company. He's managed to turn it around from a company that's downsizing, to one that's buying other companies out.
I make more than the average American, but it will be a while before I hit 6 figures. I have no debt at all, I have 1 used car, 1 used motorcycle, and I live in a 2 bedroom apartment.
So I would say no, I'm not rich, but I have a very comfortable life.
