They do like that. My wife beats me in Singstar all the time. Not that that has anything to do with skilled gaming. It was a whole lot worse when my sister in law took out me, and two friends and my brother all at Soul Calibur 2 for the Dreamcast, she never plays anything and I had already beat the game, and it was sad, really. And she still likes to bring it up. she'll be like, "Hey remember that game I beat all you guys in? What's it called?" I'm like if your going to brag you should at least remember the name of the game. Anyway I find casual gamers/nongamers also like a shallow gameplay experience. My wife loves that in Sing star every song is unlocked upfront and there is no earning money to buy new stuff and lockable content, of course i'm like, "What?" That my whole reason for playing games, to unlock crap!!! I played Tekken Dark Ressurection for a billion hours to unlock everyone's extra clothes. Same with Hot shots golf, I don't know how you don't like that. But I think it's a commitment thing, the game screams commitment where they just want something simple they can jump in and out of. |
If your mom keeps beating you, then yeah, you suck. Sure, she beat you in singstar, which means she is better then you at singing.
The other thing is what casual players like. If I may try my hand at it
- Little complaxity: A lot of use like complexity. It make the experience fulfilling. But lots of use were raised on old school game. I mean, how hard is it to play Mario or Sonic games. We have been raise and brought up on these games. So of course we're good at them. These people aren't. So, they like easy. Not to hard.
- Simple Fun:Similar to #1 they like the game if it's just gopod fun. We don't like Wii Sports as much because it's shallow. Fun for 30minutes and were done. These people however aren't use to big flash light, unlockables and 40 hour quest. So, they enjoy just picking up a controller and having a few swings at baseball
- Multiplayer:I've noticed this with my mom. She won't normally play the Wii, but if family is over she will. I beleive that casual players enjoy social interaaction. It's the fun of watching of how your buddies are doing. Some of us may feel similar with online games. It's not the smae as fragging your pals in the same room. Same here. It'ss more fun beating friends and family.
