Forums - Gaming - Report: Force Unleashed Employees Let Loose From LucasArts

The Force has left some unlucky staffers, some said to be longtime LucasArts employees, after the company finished the lion's share of the work on Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.

by David Radd on Friday, June 27, 2008

Earlier this month, LucasArts confirmed that the company was laying off personnel, but did not otherwise specify how many were let go or which projects these ex-employees had been working on. Today, Joystiq confirmed that LucasArts employees who had been working on Star Wars: The Force Unleashed were among those let go.

The anonymous source said to Joystiq that several long time members of LucasArts were let go, including staffers who had worked on projects like X-Wing, Full Throttle, and Grim Fandango. While most of the principle work on Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is said to be already complete, the game is not set to release until mid-September. LucasArts employees working on Fracture have also been rumored targets of the layoffs.

I really hope this doesn´t mean that there is something wrong with the game itself.

That's criminal. That was a time (long long ago) when LucasArts made the best games at all. Now they make 99% crap.
