Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Rumor!!! MS teams up with Samsung to offer Xbox 360 TV's

The very idea of trying to integrate a piece of hardware as power hungry and complex as a 360 into a TV is... kinda ludicrous. I wouldn't be surprised at a bundle deal, but even housing a regular X360 inside a TV seems... like a bad idea.

Designing a custom one for the Samsung HDTV market would be pretty wasteful of that "money" thing, that M$ holds in such high regard, as well. I doubt this rumor is true.

An average LCD consumes ~200watts. An Xbox360 with Jasper ~110 watts. A combined LCD/Xbox360 with the Xbox taking over tv software operation? ~280 watts.

Its well within the range, stop getting ur nickers twisted people.

Actually this bundling is perhaps the best way for Microsoft to actually win this console war, hell beat even Nintendo. :)

I think you need to wake up, this could help them but not that much. TV´s with built in dvd or in this case a console is a lot of hassle to deal with and what if it does redring then you need to send the whole tv in.

This might help sales a bit but not a chance it will help it to compete with the Wii.

Actually there are areas where the traditional control scheme is better suited to the situational need.

For example imagine in car entertainment based on a Wii. The Kids will be fighting in the back seat before they get halfway down the street.

Also Tvs with inbuilt dvds are great for kids and anyone else who just wants to play them without too much clutter. This is just the next step really, and if you consider the Xmote concept, even if they use the same technology as the Wii it would just work better if the sensor bar was implemented inside the tv.

BTW, im going to break some news to you. If Nintendo can find market openings then so can Microsoft. So to count anyone out at this stage is just crass.

Lastly, the Xbox360 will eventually cost the same as the Wii to manufacture for the arcade model. Probably Circa 2010 with the 32nm shrink.

I still say that this won´t help the xbox nearly as much as you seem to hope and bringing in manufacture cost and that it would be great for kids won´t help the 360 or your arguments.

So the rumor might be true,

wonder if you can buy HDD for the TV.
Think this would be great for 360.

^^I agree. How can you fix the 360 if it did break down? Can we be able to take 360 out of the T.V. and send it in for repair?

tsss tss tsss.... everybody was laughing when I said that years ago.... if it's true I should have bet money on that one :)

ok......so now your TV which you'd normally just hear TV sounds or whatever will now sound like TV sounds + buzzsaw .

everyone that comes over would ask, " Hey dallas, why is your TV making that noise????!!??"

My god, this was the exact idea I was having this morning. A console that's not a single unit, but more a set of standards, licence the technology to as many companies as possible, the console would be built into as many products as possible = massive market penetration.

Be hell for ioi to track, though ;)

 Hmm... kinda like a.. PC

These rumours about MS releasing their hardware to 3rd parties have been floating around for a while. If they could fit it into a 27" I think they could sell plenty to parents for kids bedrooms.

I'd love to fire up my 360 on an Xbox tv! That sounds really cool!

Hahaha, pathetic.
