A lot of confusion was created when Blizzard.net opened with a strange piece of artwork with some sort of crystal like structure crumbling in on itself, then people began to notice weird symbols surrounded by circles indented subtly into the crystal structure, and it didnt take Diablo fanatics long to recognise these symbols as the runes from the LOD pack for Diablo II. The runes are the Hel and Shael runes. I could be wrong, but I have been expecting Blizzard to announce a "World of Diablo" MMO game for awhile ...

If they took the (software) infastructure built for World of Warcraft over the past couple of years, spent 2 years upgrading it (and adding new features), created a new client focusing on producing better graphics (aiming to get good performance in most situations off of a 2 year old PC), and created new content based on the Diablo games it would be a new revenue stream for the next 5 years.

^^ they seem to have the MMO area covered already, I would most likely not buy an MMO Diablo, if i didnt get WOW then i wouldnt get that.

DiabloII.net has recently recieved inside info that Diablo 3 WILL be announced at WWI in Paris on saturday... now to look up wtf WWI is :D

whether this is real or not we have yet to see.

They currently have the MMO market wrapped up, but I can't see them maintaining their dominance in the long run (2 or more years from now) with the increasing competition in the market.

I think it's just something for Lich King. From what I understand Blizzard has been known to use stuff from other games in their different universes (in this case, rune symbols from Diablo 2 may be on Frostmourne or something)
