Forums - Gaming Discussion - What game or games made you a true gamer.

I started out on the SNES, I was pretty young I don't even think I asked for it but for some reason my parents bought me it on Christmas and I thank them very much for that. I played some of the mario games alot of the time but I wasn't right into gaming then. Once I got my PS1 it all started there and the game that got me hooked was FFVII, there was no turning back after that.

And that's pretty much my life story....

You can't help but root for the underdog, GO PS3!

Boycotting the following:

1. Yoshi: He ate my car and spit out a toaster.

2. Igglybuff: Totally false advertisement. You can have as many as you like they don't buff nothing.

3. the Terms Hardcore/Softcore... We're talking Video Games. Not Porn.

4. The term Casual as relates to Gamers: We make them sound like outsider's that happen to play games.  If that were the case they'd own a PS3.

5. Donuts.... Beacause I drink Beer...... and the biggest fan of Donuts hates Beer.

6. Boycotts: Their so lame.

I started playing Super Mario Bros. and Sonic the Hedgehog, and ever since I've been a true gamer.

I think there are several stages in becoming a gamer which I passed with the following games:
-Jazz Jackrabbit 2: 'real' gaming, not kid-oriënted point&click anymore.
-Super Mario 64: Console gaming and replays.
-Super Smash Bros. Melee: Putting insane amounts of time into games.
-Zelda: Twilight Princess: Gaming became my number 1 hobby.

I drink your milkshake.

1) WWF Royal Rumble on the Sega Genesis
2) Mortal Kombat on the Sega Genesis
3) Sonic the Hedgehog on the Sega Genesis

I started gaming with a few 'choose your own adventure'-type text games on the TRS-80 at school(remember that POS?) At around the same time, I got my first Atari 2600 at a flea market. My brother and I got an NES about 2 years after it's release. For the whole 2600-NES time, I played games, more or less, as a distraction, an escape(those were some turbulent times for my family.) It wasn't until I played Phantasy Star on my cousin's Sega Master System that I truly became a gamer(and RPG lover.) So, Phantasy Star 1 for me.

Nice thread.

crash warped on the ps1

Sonic the Hedgehog, Wonder Boy, Ghouls and Ghosts, Bubble Bobble: on the Sega Master System 2.

Sonic the Hedgehog on the Genesis and Super Mario Land/Pokemon Red/Link's Awakening on the Game Boy.

I started to play in the SNES era but it's not until N64 that I became a true passionate gamer. Zelda OoT is really what made me a gamer.
