No offense,but I don't see where that logic comes from.In regard to the Playstation 3 and Nintendo wii; the Playstation has already demonstrated that it can sell above or at about the same level as the wii.The wii is the system to own because it has more appealing games to that particularlar market.As soon as Metal Gear Solid 4 came out,sales skyrocketed;this shows to me that both consoles can sell harmoniously,and that "Japan is only a one console region" to be untrue.

Don't you think that you exagerate a bit just because it sold more than Wii in only 1 week and this is because the supply constrains ? If you divide Wii's monthly sales by 4 you get 375k per week.

Japan is such a weird market right now who knows what will happen down the line with PS3. ONe thing that Nintendo has to worry about is keeping their appeal up in Japan with the Wii. Otherwise PS3 will pull a PSP(although the changes are for different reasons).

But it's really not about weekly sales for PS3 in Japan. PS3 needs to prove it can be a big holiday seller in Japan which after 2 holiday seasons it's yet to prove. If it can't do that then no matter what it does on a weekly basis can get it on a good average.

But PS3 should do a little better after MGS4 in Japan, or at least I would think. Nintendo brand is struggling a bit in Japan lately mainly because Nintendo has seemed to ignore it for awhile. Nintendo needs to put out a new model of the DS to replace the oversaturated model out there and needs to get more Wii centric Japanese titles out there. If not then PS3 easily can start doing a lot better.

Siren Remake
Afrika
Eternal Sonata

Naruto PS3

Last Remnant
Silent Hill
FFXIIIv
ToV
ZoE3
Shadow of Colossus 2

These games will SPIKE PS3 sales in Japan.

Now Wii:

Fatal Frame 4
What else japanese oriented games it will have?
Kid Icarus ?
Animal Crossing Wii ?

well, atleast maybe on E3 there will be some announcements, but for now, Wii lineup with japanese oriented games look bland.

Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

 

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far

cuz the ps3 is an inferior system and the Japanese know it. The Wii is more fun to play and has a way better controller. Come on Sony, change the damn controller already....

Crazy man:Why did you put fighters up on the list they usually don spike up system sells in japan since they rather play in arcades against better compettion.
Also anime based games don't spike up console sales either look at DBZ:Burst Limit.Also why afrika up on the list ???
Everything else seems in line with japaneese gaming choices though in some way.

Not mentioning Zelda, Mario, Pokemon, Wii SeriesEtc of the nintendo Ips that HIGHLY appeal to the japanese. Pokemon and Mario appeal to the japanese far more than Final Fantasy. And there is no doubt the wii will getting dragon quest if the ds doesn't and that is also bigger than final fantasy.

So, how do you know PS3 is gaining titles like ToV without proof? Do you have some exclusive source? Sounds like you spammed titles in general rather than ones that appeal to the Japanese...

You really are crazzy.

Half of those games aren't going to spike a thing (Afrika, Siren), half of them don't exist and haven't been announced (SotC2, ZoE3), and the other half aren't even on the PS3 (ToV). Okay, so that's 3 halves but that's still not as crazzy as what you're saying. You're basically setting yourself up for disappointment with a deluded list.
