I don't know. I mean, your typical Western guy I can relate to, my obviously being the pinnacle of macho. But your typical Japanese main character? It seems like they're always one hair away from breaking down, going on a vodka binge, and spending all evening crying to you about how their mommy never loved them.

Some of the Japanese-made characters do get too effeminate for my tastes sometimes i.e. Vaan from FFXII yet at the same time, I am tired of American developerd put musle men as protagonists in a game.

All that was missing was a reference to Painkiller's gun that shoots shurikens and lightning. Hilarious, and practically a textbook definition of what the so-called "modern first-person shooter" boils down to these days.
