Gah...I'm on Act 5 now...Everybody on Outer Haven is on your tail as soon as you get on it...I keep on dieing! >_<

What difficulty level are you on? I died once in the very beginning but after that, I breezed through the entire Act.

I'm on the default setting, Solid Normal I believe...which is probably stupid since I've only played Ops and both the Ac!d's. I haven't experienced much of the MGS series. Anyway, I don't have any Rations, Regains, or Noodles...so that's a big part of the reason why I'm dieing so much.

Take it slow and easy.  Use octocam and the M14 EBR w/ silencer to take out the initial FROG patrols and snipers.  Assuming that you aren't going for a no-kill completion that is.  Since you have no rations/regains/noodles, I think it's safe to say you've been pretty liberal about shooting people so far.  At certain points there are FROG soldiers that will drop down so watch out for them.  As long as you are crawling on the ground, they shouldn't get the drop on you.  Watch out for snipers on the catwalk and roving FROG patrols.  Use your SolidEye to keep an eye out for any targets you might not see.  When you get to the end of the ship, don't engage the Geckos.  You'll have to go through a door that's in plain sight (need time to open the door), but you should find a gap in their patrol.  I stuck to the left side of the ship and slowly went along until I got to the end, then made my way towards the middle door on the back wall until it was clear to open the door.

Dude, perfect advice. I was like right infront of two of them and shot one...the other was looking around like crazy without the alert going off. Shot both just crawling around.

OMG mgs4 does NOT have any pre renderd cut scenes, kojima has never used pre renderd for any mgs game. and the producer ryan payton said it himself that its all real time. why is this even being discussed?

I guess this shows konami really knows how to use the ps3's hardware thats it has to be debated if its all realtime. good job kojima and ps3.

Lupus, were you not using the Solid Eye?

That's actually one of my complaints about the game... They made the Solid Eye too useful. I ended up playing well over half the game through a grey and black filter. I would turn it off every now and again just to see what the scenery looked like but I probably missed out on several cool visuals in the game because everything was blacked out.

Yeah, I was using it and I knew they were there...I was just hurrying to open the door. I had no idea you had to turn it. Though it's a sub....so I guess I should have expected that. Anyway, yeah, I agree about it being too useful. Though a lot of games make the radars that way.

Well, I think it beats looking at a bunch of green lines with red dots and yellow/blue cones, instead of the actual game.  I'm talking about the Soliton radar of course.  Because let's be honest, that's how most people played MGS1/2.  Eyes glued to the radar.  Which is why I think MGS3/4 beat MGS1/2 handily in the gameplay department.

Ok, I got past that part...thanks for the advice on the snipers. Now I'm on Mantis...is she like a hologram or something? Physical attacks aren't doing anything to her.

It's a bit of a puzzle. Don't want to spoil it for you to give you an easy out, but watch the pre-fight scene again. How does she channel her powers? That's the key to beating her.

The one thing I hated about the solid eye was the battery. You give me camo that can change colors, but the solid eye runs out of battery in about ten minuets? Then not using it or 30 seconds recharges the battery?

I can understand trying to limit the players use of the solid eye so it doesn't become a crutch, but the battery was more of a nuisance than an incentive to do rely on different techniques. It sorta reminded me of the doom 3 flashlight, but not as dumb.

"Why do they call it the xbox 360? Because when you see it, you'll turn 360 degrees and walk away"

Ah, thanks for the hesitant to spoil. ;) Beat the game...amazing ending! Now I need to play MGS1-3. I wonder why I waited til Ac!d and ops to get into Metal Gear...
