They might copy them to gain a bit of market share but ultimately, that's not what they're going for. MS cares about Sony and wants to take the living room from them before they get a chance to settle themselves into it. But, in typical MS fashion, they never bothered to pay attention to Apple, the one who has the best distribution system, the best prices, and the most convenient way of doing things with AppleTV. Beware Apple over the next three years. They're going to completely fuck up the entire market. They may not win but they'll mix things up a lot. |
I agree, Apples plan of attack is becoming more apparent as time goes on. I doubt they will actaully release a dedicated console- they are going to try to leapfrom Microsft and just sell their product as a multimedia living room device. iPhone will encrouch on handheld gaming, and Apple TV will encrouch on console gaming, but if they muck it up, Apple will easily pull ot and still have their media player.
I don't think they will release a dedicated console, becuase they will probably only be able to take 10-15% of the market if the do that. So they are going to leech away 5-10% of the video game market without making a console at all. I don't think Apple's entering the makert will be good for gamers though.
