2011 is fine. Just hope they don't f*** up the hardware again and we all get the blue ring of death.

yes, the same lifespan as the ps2..but take note, sony is still supporting the ps2 to date while microsoft droped all support for the original xbox like a rock! that is the most important difference and which is probably the main point of the article.

In that case, the guy should spend 15 minutes doing a little research before opening his trap.

MS dropped Xbox support because they were in the midst of a lawsuit with Nvidia. It's pretty hard to make a console when your GPU supplier owns the design and refuses to make chips for you.

That's one of the problems with blogs and the internet. Every jackhole with 10 cents worth of computer knowledge and an opinion can write the most inane, misguided, and unresearched piece of shit and post it on the internet for morons to read and spread like a flaming bag of dogshit on the neighbor's porch.

6 years is 1 year longer han the average. And nowhere in the article did he say support would not continue for a couple of years for the 360 after.

That's plenty of time and in 3 1/2 years, those graphics are going to look awfully stale compared to PC hardware. It will be time for a hardware refresh with Blu-ray, uncompressed sound, 1080p, etc etc etc.

 

GOd imagine what teh Wii graphics will look like than however I don't expect a new nintendo Console until 2012 stale graphics or not.

whomever created that controller needs to be shot, that is the worst thing i've seen since the original x-box controller that you could drive to work on.

wow you guys relax MS will do what the hell they want if they come out with another console or if they dont either way i have never bought a console when it first comes out there is always problems the 360 had the worst hardware problems of this gen nobody can deny that and stop calling this thread bullshit and stop acting like you guys know exactly what MS will do.

The Xbox 360 will have had a six year lifespan if the Xbox 3 comes out in 2011. But the thing is, Microsoft won't instantly drop support for the Xbox 360 once the Xbox 3 comes out, because it will be profitable. Just like how they are still supporting XP even though Vista is out.

The PS3 won't have a lifespan of ten years. It just doesn't have the success, relative pricing or third party support to get there. Even if it does, the PS4 will be out at the same time, or one year after the Xbox 3 as per this generation.
