Is this game still a 10? or close to it?
@Vegabond how would you score the game?

The scene with the Geckos was way too scripted. The little gear is annoying, and so is the monkey. The scene with the Rat Pack didn't really work due to poor AI. In the end, all I liked was a couple of cut scenes and the last two sneaking sections. Chapter two was a little better, but still very generic. the boss fight was way too easy, but at least it was original. Following the trail was somewhat amusing, but the combat was lackluster. The cool fight scene is not interactive, which seems to be the staple of the game: If it's cool, you are just watching. Didn't Kojima play God of War? So in the end, the series isn't moving forward one inch. The best Metal Gear was MGS, and it's been downhill from there. |
play the game on hard or higher then come back and tell me the AI is poor :)

Did you play MGS2? If not, Raiden was actually more tolerable in MGS4.
Yeah, he was pretty bad in MGS2.

I agree. Unfortunately the ending is nowhere near as definite as it has been made out to be. MGS5 could easily star Solid Snake again with little to no effort needed from the writers. I don't even understand why Kojima wouldn't have gone the extra mile to truly end Solid Snakes life story, but the way things ended seemed careless and Hollywood-ish which feels out of place in storyarch as dark as MGS. |
I can already tell that not enough people are dying in MGS4 to make me happy. Even when they do die, there's nothing really tragic about it. It tries to draw on the heartstrings but I'm just not buying. Not enough has gone to shit to really make me feel bad.
Personally, I thought Snake should have fucking capped Naomi as a traitor. I don't care if she was or not, someone as embittered and worn-out as Snake wouldn't have given her the opportunity to do it twice and would have taken care of business the moment he saw her again.
You're right though, this game is starting to feel pretty Michael Bayish and that really bothers me. I may disagree with Kojima's storytelling and style but that doesn't mean he needs to go 100% whore like Bay. I may complain about MGS but it's leagues above anything done by that douchebag.

I only played a little of MGS2 as I loved the first 1 but quickly grew tired of 2.
also about the Game play length play on hard, collect everything possible and play stealthily, this after all how its ment to be played, Personalky im really happy with the game ( it ties up a lot of loose ends, but at the same time leaves it open) BTW did anyone see that cutscene where it scrolls down threw all Previous MGS games until it gets to MGS4, and below that theres 2 slots where it says work in progress ( or something to that effect) . a red herring maybe, after all kojima has been saying this is his last Metal Gear since MGS2
I don't understand what the OP is saying at all.
Act3 is 50% stealth, 25% rail shooter and 25% boss battle
Act4 is 25% stealth/25% action and 50% epic boss battles
act5 is 25% stealth/25% action, 25% boss battle 10% triangle button tapping, and 15% MMA match.
There's as much of "game" in acts 3-5 as 1-2, the main difference is the scale of the maps and the linear level design. the only difference is that there's much more cutscenes. Be that as it may, the cutscenes were in the most part great, Kojima pretty much ties everything up and leaves nothing unanswered when the game ends.

Lame excuse.=p Just say you cant afford it yet or you're not a fan.If they do come out with a "Substance" version--I will buy that also, even though i have a LE and regular edition. |
Meh, 90% of my games are games that I didn't paid the full price for I never paid the full price for MGS games I am not saying they are not worth it I just never do that..

Alright, to clarify, I have beaten MGS 1/2 and gotten about half way through MGS3. I am a fan of the series, I just don't feel the need to suck a dick because it's attached to Kojima.
MGS fans are among the most pretentious of all Videogame fans because kojima throws in something that resembles philosophy. It's like talking to those kids in school that listen to really really crappy music and claim you're just stupid because you don't "get it". I get it alright, I'm just not impressed.
