If we don't know the type of sale, retailer or consumer, it's impossible to compare it to other games sales wise. NPD, VGC, Famitsu, M-Create, Chart Track all record consumer sales. Company sources often quote retailer sales, which are often quite different from consumer sales.

I'm not saying one shouldn't include greatest hits sales, but it should be noted as according to the article it sold 50% more as a greatest hits title. If one accepts the 2 million sales total, this means only 800k were willing to pay the full price for the game.

LMAO! priceless! Soooo, let's not count all those PS2s that sold after a price cut. Infact let's all rewrite the rules and say that games sold on the day of launch are the only true sales figures. As a matter of fact, let's just rewrite the rules to accomodate mindless interpretions of facts and figures to suit our own selfish deeds.  Men, the ignorance of this planet is more astounding now than at any point in human history it seems.

Exactly why is unreasonable to note that the majority of a game's sales were made AFTER the price was cut 50%? And where did I say sales should not be counted???

And it's true that the majority of PS2 sales were made after the price was reduced. That's a fact.

1.2 Million sales over 2 years works out to (roughly) 50,000 per month ...

If you assume equal sales in North America and Europe that would be 25,000 units every month; typically anything above 5,000 to 10,000 is included on NPD charts yet we haven't seen Killzone on NPD charts since a couple of months after release.
This means we have to assume that sales were mostly in Europe ...

40,000 to 45,000 units per month in Europe would have kept it pretty constantly in the top 10 in most major countries in Europe yet none of the charts listed it in Europe a couple of months after its launch.

I guess it has sold well to the gnomes who live under the crust of the earth ...

Yeah nice try but killzone 1 has sold over 2 million and it used to be listed on this site as a million seller but in recent months it has been removed for no good reason

What does this have to do with this discussion? Trying to point out again that the PS2 only sold because it was cheap... kinda sound like the people bashing the Wii for selling the best simply cause of its price.

So how much has Killzone sold? No one knows? VG CHARTZ do you have figures?

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

what an ugly discussion "the devs are liars and incompetent , therefore I see no hard proof KZ was a million-seller" ...

so do we have to make a thread like this for every game that didn't break the million-mark in japan+usa ?

 EDIT:

I digged a little deeper and found this : http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/data/918762.html

and this: http://playstation2.gaming-universe.de/news/3919.html

so KZ released in November and went Platinum in Europe 6 month after that and Greatest Hits in US roughly 9-10 month after release .. someone here mentioned ,that 600k sales are needed for platinum (anyone knows how much is needed for "Greatest Hits"?)combined with the data tracked through npd and media create it should be well over 1 million

all data points towards better sales in europe ,than in US (well that's not unusual for an european game)

I made a thread because I heard it had sold well but it isn't listed as a million seller here and anti Sony people keep bashing Killzone 2 cause it didn't sell well supposedly.
