Forums - Microsoft - Why Microsoft will be pawned in June and July NPD, but will own August!!!

Who gives a shit who sales more consoles. As Steve Ballmer would probably put it, "it is all about GAMES, GAMES, GAMES." The 360 is in a position now to continue to recieve the same amount of great games it has been receiving since launch for the rest of the generation. This may seem shallow of me to only care about myself and not Microsoft's business, but I bought a 360 to play games and I'll be damned if I haven't gotten my money's worth and more. Their line-up is awesome and I probably won't even get a chance to play all the games I want. There are some out right now that I want to play and just can't spend the money on them. M$ just keep on throwing badass games my way and you have my money come next-generation.

I think the two major impediments to the game library bringing about a resolute Xbox 360 victory over PS3 were Rrod and Sony brandname.

Those go hand in hand. RRoD from MS effects there brand name (and inadvertently improved Sony's).

Being that we live in a world where thousands of MS consoles break every month, I don't think those two things are going to change in MS's favor any time soon. Especially not by August.

So, we have agreed on what the problem is, probably agree that in three months 360's will still have RRoD, and Sony's brand name will be the same (probably a little better with MGS4 and E3).

Do we agree that if these will still be a constant in August, no "ownege" will happen?

Agreed on the bolded.

I also agree that a lot of the old 360's will still fail come August, regardless of the strong reliability of the new ones.  But that won't prevent the Xbox 360 from taking the lead in NA that month if it gets the price cut my OP talked about.

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

If your predictions come true does that mean that I would only be able to choose between Microsoft or Nintndo in the next gen?

Thank you but no thank you, I would be done with this hobby. I would much rather watch anime and Jess Franco and Jean Rollin movies that play multi-player shooters on the next xbox or be stuck playing Nintendo's kiddie games.

"Lets not get twisted here. MGS4 is amazing. But as I said. 1.3 million in terms of big exclusive and for MGS4 is good but not great for Sony. As I mentioned other games this gen gave other consoles a much bigger boost and sold far more on first day. In terms of between now and February what do Sony have left?. See LBP I expect to sell 2-3 million entire life. Resistance 2 I expect 2-3 million entire life. (Look at R1)
Now 360 between now and February. Gears 2 I expect 7 - 9 million entire life and over 2 mill first day sales. Fable 2 I expect 5-6 million entire life and 1.5 mill fist day sales. BK3 I expect 4 - 5 mill sales entire life and 1 mill first day. Too Human I even expect 3-4 mill entire life and 500,000 first day. I also Expect 350,000 - 400,000 360's sold in first week of Gears 2. Then theres Japan. I really believe that 3 exclusive JRPG's this year for the 360 will have an impact on sales for 360 in Japan. Again I refer to my sig. And theres games I havent mentioned which should get to 2 or 3 million or also."

Locking the thread... this has exploded into a mess of insults and trolling from a whole lot of people.

It depends on the drop. $100 I would agree with you. (unless Sony does the same).

Brand image is a strange thing to predict. If a piece of equipment gets a really bad image, price has very little effect on sales.

I remember buying a $500 DVD player for $199, because it was a DiVX player. THe hate for that was so bad, that people could not look past the logo on the front, and realize it was one of the best DVD players on the market.

Good for me, bad for RCA.
