Forums - General - Sexism in Video Games

Again, I manage to get into the topic late.

The short awnser to your question is yes, very much so. Take Tecmo for example. If there is ever a female character in Dead or Alive sshe has amazing cans. Always. And I just don't mean nice, I mean they're going to poke you in the eye. Tecmo is the worst though.

The problem is that most of the programmers are males. Sop instead of hot guys or average girls, we get the juggies. It's also a problem with advertsing. They use hot women to sell games. DoA Beach Vollyball is the best example.

Around the Network

I dont think that all games must have the option of choosing a male or female character. There are some great females in games that can kick ass without saying corny (sometimes horny) lines while wearing clothes that show a lot of skin. Aya Brea on the first Parasite Eve (on the second games they went too low with the shower scene). Samus with the Suit that dont really tells the players that she is a hot blonde. Ada Wong would be in it too if there wasnt for the high heels and dress while she kills plagas.

Unfortunately some games with females are just jokes. They aimed at the male with little or no sexual experience and express their disturbing fantasies about women. For example there is a topless picture of the girl from BloodRayne at playboy (yes a woman that is not even real).
DOA volleyball and Rumble Roses are extreme examples. Come on, I think those games should be aimed at the Wii. The audience of these kind of games is not suited for the Wii, but the way you play the games seems to be ideal for the Wii. I mean that you play with one hand only so that the other one is free to ...
Well I`d better shut up.

Yeah, Plague, I kinda tried to touch on that a little before, ". . .male leads are supposed to be more of the big, tough, silent, or unemotional. . . " I noticed how the topic discussion was about sexism in general, but most of the talk has seemingly been about females.
