I just wish they'd send some of that 80gb love down the way of Australia. I can't even remember the last time I saw a backwards compatible model in my neck of the woods...

First Bioshock is not exclusive to 360, I played a better version on the PC. In fact every good 360 game is on PC or PS3 with the sole exception of Halo 3 which will be on PC soon enough (like 1 and 2). Its not a huge loss anyway, Halo 3 pales in comparison to MGS4.
Oh and use world sales not just NPD numbers. If you toss in Europe and Japan the PS3 beat the 360 by more like 150k last month. The PS3 has already passed up the 360 handily (well over a million units) outside the US.

Until we know how many that actually amounts to, it's pointless. I'm quite positive it will easily outsel the X360 for that week but just as I mentioned sales will eventualy revert back to current absorption levels.

Yeah, that makes a whole lot of sense. Halo 3 is still console exclusive. Just like the whole series always has been. You have to remember that MS has 2 video game systems to publish for, not just one. Makes no sense to say halo 3 "was" exclusive when the secondary SKu platform is PC and was planned all along just as Halo and Halo 2 were. If they were going to another console, a la Bioshock [which you even mentioned], you're statement would have been fine.

Keep in mind a big chunk of that 3 million is not catching up, it's making up for what it lost after launch. run the numbers on a wide time table and you'll see it's going to be a few years before PS3 surpasses X360 unless drastic changes from both camps take place.

I did use worldwide numbers. Take a look.

A 6 million gap eliminated in 3-6 months? You might want to consult your moderating associate, Jacob. I think he'd agree with me in suggesting that 3-6 months is in the lowest percentile of projected ranges.

I;m pretty sure the holiday will make m$ bleed crimson.

God how many times have we been over this?
As of now the gap is 5.87 million according to VGC. Even if we assume a nice round number like 30 weeks left till the end of the year that would mean it would have to outsell the 360 on average by 195,000 a week worldwide! And before somebody shouts "Duh holiday sales are better" They're better for all parties!!!! Last year both PS3 + 360 had similar increases in the holidays.
Even if you assume PS3 gets a far more massive boost in the holidays it is completely ridiculous to assume it will pass the 360 by the end of the year let alone Q3. And saying " I;m pretty sure the holiday will make m$ will bleed crimson" isn't a valid argument. JL's prediction doesn't become any less ridiculous if he backs up his 60 million LTD claim by saying " I;m pretty sure the holiday will make Nintendo up Wii production to 7.8 million a month".

The best I can come up: Halo 3 will be also on PC so that is why he said 'were Xbox 360 exclusive(s)'. |
He's just saying that the 360 had the big exclusives last year, while the ps3 has the big exclusives this year. If he meant that Bioshock and Halo 3 were no longer 360 exclusives, then that would imply that he thinks MGS4 won't remain ps3 exclusive for long (though technically Bioshock was never exclusive, as it was always on PC).
since when is resistance 2 more anticipated than Gears 2?
It's so hard to tell which one actually is.

It's stupid to assume that every person with the intent of buying a PS3 is aware of the upcoming bundle. Otherwise not a single PS3 would have sold last week. It's also unfair to compare launch sales of a new SKU to a long standing SKU fo a competing platform. Sales will drop back down to current market absorption levels a few weeks after release. |
But it's not stupid to assume that some, if not many, were awaiting either an MGS4 bundle or the return of the 80gb to pick up a ps3, thus explaining lower sales than usual these past couple of weeks.
