tactics for the ps1 is my fave
It's a bit stereotypical, but I'm gonna have to go with 7; it was my first one even though highly inspired by my close second fave, 6.

Ahhhh. That makes a certain amount of sense - but I always thought of Vayne as being like Baldwin from Person of Lordly Caliber, with his father being like Richard. Gabranth and Larsa would be like Magnus and Yumil, perhaps.
...Man I loved these games. They really just need to get rid of Nomura and let Matsuno have creative control of Final Fantasy. |
Didn't matsuno leave square enix?

Yeah, that's a good comparison too. It's a shame FF12's story didn't live up to his previous works. Don't know what happened there. It probably fell apart storywise because he had to step down as head of the team during the middle of the project.
They should of just let Matsuno make more Ogre Battle games while he was their. I mean, I think Square owns that liscense.
He's supposidly working on a "mystery project" and had expressed interest to work on the wii.
So he's probably woking on an Xbox 360 RPG. (Everyone else is!)
He's working with Hitoshi Sakimoto on something anwyay. Their were previous rumors of an Ogre Battle game beign made for the Wii, but they were ages ago, and probably just speculation because he was supposed to be working on a Wii game for an unnamed developer.
I've got an odd feeling that developer is going to be Nintendo. I think his project might be what he meant back when Nintendo said they wanted to create a new IP to challenge FF.

See now, I'd argue that the story for XII was fantastic, the best in the series - but I agree they needed to have let the man tend to Ogre Battle, because yes, S-E does own that, just as they own Quest.
I'd kill unimportant people for a Wii Ogre Battle. I'd kill them in a videogame, anyway.

Yeah... Ogre Battle was just getting good. Zenobia restored, Lodis' position further weakened by Palatinus rebelling against their puppet government.
Lodis even stymied in small Valeria a small island nation, but they did get the powerful sowrd. Such buildup being made for the eventual war between everyone and lodis.

Stop saying it!
You keep reminding me how we will probably never see a sequel, unless Matsuno is working with S-E in secret...or owns the rights himself.

Who knows. Maybe Square would rent him the liscense or sell it to his "mystery developer"... they don't plan to make any more Ogre Battle games to my knowledge.
It's funny too.... the Wiimote fits Ogre Battle better then controls did and the graphics are perfect for Ogre Battles style.
So many more plot lines left unfinished too. It's a shame for sure. The Ogre games are consistantly in my "favorite games" lists.

8-12 are mediocre RPG's, although 9 was better than the other 3. However 6 was an awesome game.
I probably say:
FF6
FF7
FF2
