wats weird is that the ps3 has sold 1million in almost 4 months of being on sale her in PAL but the will which has been out for 8 months in PAL regions has sold 2.20 million hmnmmm so therefore the wii is also faster than the ps2 (1.1milllion in the same time period and wii's are impossible to find and once production increases sales will rise dramaticly)

 Jsut curious: tell me what you would say if someone made a thread called "Wii Sports is more graphically appealing than Resistance."  Moreover, what if that post went on to quote Oprah, Ellen Degeneres, Dr. Phil, and Levar Burton as proof?  Then tell me what you'd say to someone who, after half a page of your arguments, said "wow, all this bitching because Nintendo has a game with better graphics.  That's pathetic."

Lots of other people are very interested in the two games you mentioned (you also did not mention Trusty Bell, Lost Odessey, or Blue Dragon, by the way). I think it's fair to say that Halo 3 is the largest title being released on either the 360 or the PS3 this fall/winter, in terms of predicted sales (can you name one higher?). I don't care about it either, but I also don't care about Gran Turismo or Grand Theft Auto. That doesn't change the fact that all of those are enormous sellers.

Also, need I mention Mass Effect? I swear I'm going to disappear for a month when that game comes out.

I can't speak for others, but for me, no. It has nothing to do with how well Sony is actually doing, and everything to do with the fact that they 1) Have, in earlier statement, shown themselved to be unreliable, 2) offer no data to support their claims, and 3) for what it is, it isn't much because it is comparing the launch of a console with no shortages to the launch of a console with shortages. IF the point was simply to say "Hey look! We were able to make enough consoles for everyone who wants one!" then fine, I suppose I could agree (in fact, I think from looking at the shelves that they have managed to make more than one for everyone who wants one), but it would still be a pretty meaningless statistic.

 They were practically there on launch day. Much like the other regious, shortly after that launch sales plummeted. I fail to see how this somehow proves anything other than "PS3 had a really big launch".

First we have two differente sources for the data .The first is the interview with David Reeves in MCV where he said they had passed last week (or two weeks ago now I dont know ) the 1 million consoles in the PAL region .This can be seen here :

Interesting things are that apparently the console is selling pretty well in Rusia and Middle East .If we believe in David Reeves words ,thats it .Other interesting thing is the good performance in UK ,France and Iberia (thats Spain and Portugal ) .Reeves confirms this is sold to final customers ,not shipped numbers ,so this should end all discussions about .Except if you someone accuses him of lying .He also says they have sold 2 million games in first party software (most of this is obviously Motorstorm and Resistence ) .
Then we have another source of information that is this one that talks about Sony giving official numbers .

This is just one of some pages that reported that data .This data puts the PS3 at exactly 1050 000 consoles sold and gives us interesting data about the game sales .Resistence would be at 638 000 and Motorstorm 578 000 units .This source also cites the number of europeans logged to the Playstation network that would be 460 000 right now .The numbers seem to be more or less the sames as the David Reeves interview.I think PS3 numbers are a bit too low in this site for Europe but 100K isnt so big as a difference ,in any case I hope not getting banned (again ! ) just for saying this .


So all in all we could say the console is around 1050 000 and that number is sold and not shipped .As for the games Resistence and Motorstorm are sure doing great .As for the PSN less than half the people that bought the machine are online ,thats something odd but not everybody has internet or the correct setup to run the machine properly .I had to buy a wireless router myself and fight a bit with the setup as an example of this .


And for people doubting sony and its capability to have good numbers .Come one guys do you really think Sony isnt a client of NPD ,GFk and the other agencies ?Its their business for gods sake they need all the data they can get their grips on ,and they have the money to pay it .

What did Sony do well?  Barely beat a supply constrained 360 in Sony-land (aka Europe, aka, well this is a video game site so I'll stop there)?  Yes they did that, I'm not sure how much of an accomplishment it could be considered.  It's sort of like bragging about beating Glass Joe in Punch Out, if that's all you can brag about then you have serious problems as a gamer.  Sony only being to brag about this shows just how badly things are going for them.  If Sony is reduced to bragging about beating the 360 in Japan would you still consider Sony to be doing well?

As a side note, I'd like to point out yet again the fractured thinking Sony fanboys are being forced to engage in to rationalize the stunning change of fortunes we are seeing.  I keep hearing that the Wii selling faster in every region than any other system in history is no big deal, console wars aren't won in 6 months.  Yet Sony hitting 1 million a little quicker than supply constrained MS in one region is somehow of great import?  No the Wii hasn't won the console race yet, but it's accomplishment thus far shows that it can, Sony's "accomplishment" just shows how bad the odds are for them.
