Forums - Microsoft - Forza 2 - #1 in Germany, France and Japan, #3 W/W (MGC)

If anyone doesn't know, http://www.mygamercard.net tracks 1.1m Xbox Live profiles, and updates them constantly according to what games are on the top 5 list of each gamer, and calculates which gamers have played various games for the week.

Intresting enough, Forza 2 is #3 (up from #6 or so last week) due to European launch. Crackdown maintains a slight 1000 member lead in #2, and Gears is still #1, by around 10k units. In Japan, Forza 2 has almost built a lead thats higher than the other top-5 games COMBINED. The Japanese, although few, seem to like Forza.

But what's interesting is that FM2 hasn't even cracked the top 5 in the UK. Once it cracks it there, F2 should most likely reach #2 or #3 for some time.

MGC is a very rough guess on sales. Their numbers don't always mimic real world sales - Crackdown obliterated everything first week, and ended up @ under 300k for its first week. Lost Planet only broke the top 5 overall once or twice, but ended up with near-500k its first month.

Just a nice thing to use when wanting to know about various games. FM2 has 38,000 users. The ironic thing is that FM2's leaderboard via gamerscore is almost entirely dominated by Japanese, and not Americans, as typical with many games.

I think Forza 2 sold very well in Europe, mind that Forza for the original Xbox was the only big seller that sold more in Europe. I bought my copy on the release day and the clerk informed me that I in fact had picked up their last copy. She was really surprised that there was such a huge interest for this game. The store itself is located in an industrial area so it doesn't feel like this place is the number one choice for gamers to take their business. And it was the third store I visited. Also a local heatwave may have kept interest down temporarily.

Forza 2 has seemed to sell better in Europe than the US. In the US, Forza took 3-4 days to crack the top5 chart. In Europe, Forza 2 topped the charts in every country within 2 days.

Forza 2 ended up @ #2 overall last week, beating Crackdown by around 3000 users.

FM2 is now #1 beating Gears by around 33% thus far. That bodes very well, hopefully signalling that the game is contuning to be bought, and played worldwide. This is amazing, since FM2 is still behind Gears in the US.

Also, Shadowrun is #5 on the charts worldwide chart - which is very suprisng.

Kinda weak for something foolishly hailed as a equal to the GT games.

If it's foolishly hailed, then that would mean it shouldn't be selling well anway, so how could low sales, of something that isn't supposed to sell well, be weak?

In other words, you just used the put down equivalent of a double negative, and contradicted yourself.

It's cause it's the new game to play that's why lots of users are playing it for now...

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

Celb - Forza IS equal to the GT series, have you played it? It's better. Sales wise? Obviously not. But of course, I guess it has to be ICO or Shadow of the Collosus to be a great game that undersells, but not Forza 2.

If you want to equate sales merely with how a game is, then Mario Kart 64 is far superior to GT.

GT1 and GT3 a-Spec sold better than Mario Kart 64.

good thing we have something called opinions because forza is not equal to GT.. im not comparing sales im comparing the game itself... being an owner of both... i disagree with your statements...

and sales for this game are  low... we're judging the sales of this game off of gamertag usage ?!? give me a break....

Which is why I said it was a rough guess on the rate at which it was selling. I never said take it as cannon, but it might be helpful. Why? Forza 2 jumped up the UK GT list very quickly. It's also #1 in the UK.

Bona, what about GT4 do you prefer over Forza 1?
