The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows Barack Obama attracts 48% of the vote while John McCain earns 40%. When “leaners” are included, Obama leads 50% to 44%. Last Tuesday, just before Obama clinched the nomination, the candidates were tied at 46% (see recent daily results). Data from Rasmussen Markets gives Obama a 61.9% chance of winning. Tracking polls are updated at 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time each day.

Obama is supported by 81% of Democrats and now holds a very modest three-point edge over McCain among unaffiliated voters. Both those figures reflect a significant improvement over the past week. McCain attracts 83% of Republicans Still, 30% of all voters either have no preference at this time or could change their vote before Election Day. (see other demographic notes). Seventy-seven percent (77%) of voters like McCain’s proposal for a large number of town-hall debates. Voters are less enthusiastic about debates moderated by reporters. That may be due to the fact that voters do not see reporters as neutral observers and moderators. A recent survey found that 68% of voters believe most reporters try to help the candidate they want to win. Just 17% see most reporters as objective.

Much too early to even conclude anything. It'll depend on the issues that will surface during the next few months, and also on who they both pick as VC

If the situation in Iraq gets better, combined with the US electorate emplying common sense, McCain will walk all over Obama.

Obama's economic policies are normally non-existant. When they do exist, they stink.

Who didn't expect a bump after wrapping up the nomination?

I'm looking forward to the town-hall debates, they are talking about doing ten of them and I'm honestly curious to see how Obama does. Once we get through 3 or 4 of those we should start to see a more meaningful picture.

Barrack Obama is a communist. He has Cuban Flags with Che Geuvara on them in his Houstan Campaign office and when he was younger he was mentored by an American communist leader who was in favor of the Soviet Union of the U.S.

His ability to speak to crowds will surely win him votes.

And his plans of reforming the health care so that it is more accessible for more people might not appeal to some people, but it is a fact that the American health care system is horrid, so he will get people to back him up on that point.

His economic features (the ones he kept debating on with Clinton) were maybe not completely refined, but given the fact that he only now has to come forward with specific issues so that he can defeat McCain, we'll definitely see some changes in and specifics in his rhetoric.

I wonder what kind of stereotypical bashing both parties will use though. Always good fun to see as an outsider.
