Forums - General Discussion - NHL: 2008-2009 Offseason Thread

This thread is to discuss the developments of this offseason in the NHL. Is that a good enough introduction?

Edit: Damn, screwed up on the title. It should read 2008 Offseason Thread. Oh well.

It doesn't matter what any team does, Detroit will still repeat.

So Ron Wilson, unofficially, is the new head coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs. 4yrs/6.5 million........one of the highest paid coaches now, right?

I just hope the Devils make some better decisions this year. Brodeur is great and perhaps even the greatest goalie(we might never know since today's game is different then it used to be in the good ol days) but one man cannot carry a whole team. And being a goalie he cannot score (though he did once lol).

I probably shouldn't say this, as it's rude, but everytime he gets interviewed, his accent cracks me up. Not really sad to see him go (for the 2nd time) as he became very whiney at the tail end of his career. His flopping won't be missed by me either. But that being said, he'll be in the hall soon.

Update on Coaching Positions:

  •  Former San Jose Sharks Coach, Ron Wilson, was hired by the Toronto Maple Leafs as coach -

  • Yet another coach gets fired, this time the L.A Kings fire Crawford -

I'm glad Hasek can retire now that he has won another Stanley cup.

Tomorrow, Trevor Linden of my hometown Vancouver Canucks, will retire from the NHL, 20 years to the day he was drafted. I hope that he somehow remains a part of the organization, and I hope the Canucks will raise #16 to the rafters, and retire it.
