There is one way to succeed in this gen, make a viable $50 gaming platform. Something around the power of a PS1 with mainly 2D games, it would grab the attention of old schoolers and the poorer markets (just like mega drive did) I have a weird feeling the gaming industry is ready for an extremely inexpensive 2D platform with $5 - $10 games, i know what you are saying, yeah wii can do this with wiiware, but a whole system dedicated to the concept , using both internet and non internet downloads and using 512 MB SD cards as cartridges would rock, i would buy it.
