I haven't played the game in a long time (a few years), so I do not really remember it, but as far as I remember, Super Mario Bros Deluxe looked way better, as the character (Snake) was bad looking (a little worse than mario) and little detail on the field.
It did look totally OK for a GBC game, not bad, but the good ones looked better. RE for GBC looked about as good, so perhaps it is that there was action on the screen.
Pokemon Gold/Silver looked better too, as far as I remember.
Maybe it is that it is seen from above? Zelda looked a tiny bit better only, but my memory isn't really good enough to remember.
