I think the POTENTIAL of the PS3 was good, but people were dwelling more on what the PS3 will be able to do instead of what it was doing at the time or what it is doing now.

MGS4 + MGO couldn´t fit on a Single Layer BR-Disc (25GB) for a few GBs, Sony offered him a Double Layer BR-Disc, he rejected the idea...
So the game can be made on 3-4 DL- DVD (DVD9), compression can be used on enough data to port the game...

I don't think so. I think they took a HUGE gamble with no fallback position on a completely unknown control system. It shows their faith in their vision. Of course having a Miyamoto helps.

Software always grows to fill the available space. We're talking about a freaking game not fitting on a 50 GB disk. They managed to get the Apollo Lunar Module landed safely with a computer that had 1K of 16 bit words of erasable (RAM) core memory and 12K of read-only memory (ROM) and the entire landing program was on the 12K ROM.

Really? No one is going to call him on this? What are you son, 12? Every Grand Theft Auto after II that doesnt have "Stories" on the end of the title has come out on a Microsoft System.
Its called Timed exclusive, not exclusive.
OT: I wish I could live in a world where a system can outsell its closest (in technology) rival for over a half year worldwide, increase its year over year sales in the 300-400% range and call it a failure. I guess in 2 years we will all read your thread about how it was a success since first written down on a napkin at the local sushi mart by the Sony R&D guys.
I own all three current consoles and a great gaming rig, now thats out of the way.

No, we arent, we are talking about two games MGO and MGS4 not fitting on a 25 GB disk...

Both HD consoles are losing in sales to the Wii.
But what I don't see happening, is what all Wii fans have been saying that was going to happen - Third parties would completely ditch HD consoles and only develop for the Wii. We are now 1.5 years into the generation with pure Nintendomination, and games like SF4 are still being announced for HD consoles. The only big defection so far was Fatal Frame and Monster Hunter that I've seen go from HD to non-HD. With multiplat support of games on PS3 and 360, "hardcore" gaming is actually doing better than last generation. If there isn't a mass defection at E3 or TGS this year, I think it's saying that the major projects of third parties will still be on PS360. Why? Fanboys look only at total hardware sales while game developers / publishers partition the install base and look at how well software sells.
I'm probably going to be posting much less often because the "console war" has already been decided. Wii is getting all the sales, but the PS3, 360, and PC entertain me on orders of magnitude more than the Wii. This is coming from someone who has been hardcore supporter of the Nintendo consoles from NES to Gamecube.

Not so simple. Works well for Linear games like jRPGs. However, the developers of GTA have been saying that there is going to need to be a solution (like HDD install). Can't just change discs everytime you go to a different area.

I knew that it would give the 360 a good fight and i believe that it will still beat it but Ninny came out of left feild tho
