Wii60.com gave GTA IV a 73/100. Now while I believe the game is not a 10 or 100 as rated in other mags I take offense with some of there pros and cons.

Pros:
+ Huge and detailed world (Agreed)

+ Characters are exceptional (Agreed)

+ Multiplayer and mini-games add more Replay Value than ever (Agreed)

+ Loading is minimal and a new standard for sandbox games (Agreed)

+ Enemy AI in combat is impressive (Not true. If enemy AI was so smart why is it they don't adapt to what you're doing. The only enemy in the game that has 'smart AI' are the cops. They move around and take cover. All other enemys just stand in their spots and move in a pattern)

+ Visuals are surprisingly well done for such a huge open world (Agreed)

+ Voice acting is simply superb (Agreed)

Cons:
- From melee to the cover system the combat is a mess (I like the cover system, I think some people just don't know how to use it. Using cars, walls, or anything else to keep from getting hurt is good and it is responsive. All it takes is one button. I do agree that some time it is a pain to exit the cover system.)

- Play Control is sluggish and unresponsive (I agree with this one.)

- Framerate has noticeable issues while driving (Agreed)

- AI while driving is utterly pathetic (Not so fast. I like the way they say that the enemy AI is 'smart' and they AI while driving is pathetic. okay, I agree some drivers are dumb, however, I was impressed that when in any vehicles with sirens cars actually move out of you way.)

- Most missions are dull, repetitive and sheer filler (True but have you ever played GTA? Mission are always repetitve and mostly dull)

- Difficulty level is a new low for the series (Agreed 100%)

- Save/Retry system is awful (Auto-save is good. Beats going back to the safe house after every mission. The retry system is awful though. I don't like the fact that you have to drive back to the spot why can't you start in front of whatever building, door, etc.)

This is there opinion mixed with mine. What do you all think?

Game seems like it's deserving of low to mid 9's from all the things I've read and heard. I think a 73 is harsh but I think a 10 is well stupid.

it's why they aren't on metacritic. They aren't a serious review site. (i've never heard of them until now!)

Most serious review I've read of GTA IV since Gamecritics review.

73/100 for GTA4 is a piss take, GTA4 is by no means perfect, but its at least a 95/100
its aces, graphics are great, gameplay is wiked and its just awesome!

I like GI's 10 page review, COMPLETE.

I never had aa problem with AI like you're describing. Most of the AI I've come up against has used cover, blind fire and changed positions frequently when I had an obvious advantage. That's not to say that some of the missions didn't have crap AI, but I attributed it to the fact that during those missions I was mowing down bunch of retarded gangstas that probably cant even read let alone do anything other than shoot.

From what i've played it gets a high 8 from me.

Pros. Not having terrible graphics (oh my god the PS2 games made my eyes bleed..)
- Well designed city that's fun to explore.
-good voice acting

Cons.

-repetitive missions
- story not as great as many reviews made it out to be.
- Ai is pretty bad, (especially cops).
- funky control (though improved over previous games, still needs work).

By no means is this game deserving of a 98 on metacrtic, i think reviewers got caught in the hype train and massive scale where they think any flaw is nitpicking. "oh the driving mechanics aren't too great, but that's nitpicking because this game is so massive!"

I think a 92-93 is more reasonable, but i'd go no higher than 9.0.

TBH, I'd give this game a 8.8. The basic mechanics in this game seems to be flawed, the missions are repetitive and the keeping up relationships are annoying.
